U.S. Navy 2 Pirates 0
|
|
U.S. Navy ships have had two clashes with pirates in less than 24 hours. Most recently, the destroyer Farragut disarmed pirates and sank the mother skiff off the coast of Somalia after responding to an attack on a Sierra Leone-flagged tanker. That was after the USS Nicholas crew came under fire by a group of suspected Somali pirates just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning. The Nicholas incident took place hundreds of miles west of the Seychelles Islands, and the Farragut response was approximately 800 miles northwest of the Seychelles. Navy sources tell Fox when monsoon season ends off the coast of Africa, pirate season heats up. It becomes easier for the pirates to maneuver and choose their targets. Pirates typically target commercial ships hoping that companies or governments will pay ransom. As one expert put it, “for the pirates, it’s a business.” Jim Arkedis, a former counterterrorism and security analyst at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service who now works at Progressive Policy Institute, says clashes with the U.S. Navy are either bad timing or a case of mistaken identity. “A lot of these pirates who are a long way from home off the Somali coast are potentially under the influence of alcohol and drugs. That's how their leadership back in Somalia gets them to engage and be so aggressive,” Arkedis told Fox. A Naval commander dealing with the piracy issue also warns the attackers are also becoming bolder and targeting ships much farther away from the Somali shores. http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/04/02/pirate-season-is-heating-up/ Imagine what we could accomplish with a larger force in the area. I don't get it...with the way they are going about all this aggressive action. Do they not realize just how much of a "suicidal idiotic bully" they are acting like? It kind of reminds me of a chihuahua attacking a doberman! It has no common sense to it at all. JMO |

HAPPY EASTER
All I need to know I learned from the Easter Bunny! Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Everyone needs a friend who is all ears. There's no such thing as too much candy. All work and no play can make you a basket case. A cute tail attracts a lot of attention. Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day. Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits. Some body parts should be floppy. Keep your paws off of other people's jelly beans. Good things come in small, sugar coated packages. The grass is always greener in someone else's basket. To show your true colors, you have to come out of the shell. The best things in life are still sweet and gooey. May the joy of the season fill your heart. AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU! |

I like to listen too, and look at the Celtic Women when they are on TV.
The ladies are so beautiful, and the voices of what I would think to be an angel(s). |

I find it interesting that Bush was probably one of the most degraded, slandered, and protested presidents of all time yet did Bush threaten to label the left wing nuts "terrorist like orginantions".Did he call on a ban on CNN because of the onslaught of negative criticism?Did he tell people they should "snitch" out those who oppose him to the white house website as Obama has instructed?Did he call names and slander left leaning groups of people because he did not like what they said?I can go on and on. I can honestly say I never heard Bush slander or threaten the left despite getting twice the dose Obama is getting. For all those who hated Bush you have to admit you had a free for all with him and now we can see with Obama,Bush was a very humble man when it came to criticism. It's too bad Obama can't just pull up his panties and take some negative feedback with out threatning intimidation. Right On!!!! |

Yeah, both those shows are awful...but if you like 'em, enjoy. I'm just glad the networks aren't dominated by reality t.v. anymore and we have shows like "Modern Family, Parks&Recreation, Community, 30 Rock, Better Off Tedd(an excellent show that few people know about), The Big Bang Theory, etc." I do enjoy a couple reality shows like "Kitchen Nightmares, and Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution", but that could be because I love to cook. Jamie was on Rachel Ray show this morning. He made some interesting dishes (salads). I've managed restaurants in the past, so I have the hankering to cook once in a while. |

Hard question,, being into music and dance myself,,,, I like American Idol because of its ability to launch musical careers, the judges have experience in different areas of music, and even Ellen is significant in contributing the opinion of a non-professional because not all those who sell big do so because of talent and public opinion from those who arent experienced counts just as much in launching a singing career. I think the talent on the show,, even those who dont win FAR OUTRANKS the mainstream talent people pay to listen to or hear on the radio and I appreciate that about the show too... oh! and I love that band,,,, I like DWTS although some years it seems much less a competition than others. Its also not quite as fairly executed as IDOL in my opinion because of the differing levels of 'experience' the celebrities have. I thought MIA was the hands down best dancer last season, but america went with donny. Similarly , I think Nicole is heads and tails above the others this year but it will be up to the popular vote. I love the choreography the pros come up with and I love that band,,,, in closing, I like the judges on DWTS better but I like the distribution of talent on IDOL better.....its a toss I agree with you on the Mia vs Donny issue! I also feel that a competing dancer should never be allowed extra entertaining (such as Donny's singing), that may or may not effect the voting public's desire to cast their vote to him. That would be putting the others at a big and unfair disadvantage! I can't help but think and believe that is what pushed Donny right over the top, which again...I felt was unfair! JMO |

Personally I like America's Got Talent best. I started to add that one to the list also...but thought it was maybe into a different type of entertainment. The 2 main subjects already listed, has to do with music...either in dancing or singing. Although there is the same that is included with the acts on America's Got Talent...there are so many other acts that has nothing to do with music. But like yourself...I love to watch it as well...I think maybe more than the 2 listed here. |

Dancing with the stars can be pretty good....... CANT STAND american idol But unfortunetly.......Im usually working, so dont get to see it. Do like I do...set the VCR to record while your not there. I do the same thing with a couple of soaps, that I sometimes miss, due to being busy. Then I watch later, usually when I go to bed at night. Just an idea that works for me. |

* American Idol
* Dancing With The Stars * Both * Neither Some of you from around the world, may not receive either of the TV programs, but I thought I would post the question for the one's that can. Which do you think is the most entertaining, and if you feel like posting why...feel free to do so. I'll start it: I like the DWTS (Dancing With The Stars) more, because of the judging process. With DWTS, the judges have, in my opinion...the experience to judge, and give good advice. They have either been into choreography, dancing, instructing, etc, etc. With American Idol...not all of the judges has the experience of singing and/or music to judge or advise...(not to mention any names Ellen), someone that may or may not have the experience under their belts. This thread for fun, and to express my opinion, and to hear your opinion on the subject. or |

To me:
Scrambled: Got to be cooked well done. Boiled: Got to be well done, to where the shell has cracked. Fried: You guessed it, Well done, to the point of being "crispy" around the edges. Yum, Yum! |

Is the illusion of love better than the reality of love itself? In other words, does the best romance exist in our dreams and not in real life? To me, Love is just what two people are willing to give and share with each other! Most of the time, love (to me) is a conscious decision to at least give love a chance! Any two people can be "in love" (or willing to love), it just depends on how one looks at and perceives the other. I am the pickiest person I know, when it comes to love or attraction, and I am guilty of seeing something "not acceptable" of a possible prospect! In essence, I am my own worst enemy! I feel I would be more successful in finding that special person, if only I would not be so "picky", and give someone a chance and just let the chips fall where they may! What's the worst that can happen...seems as if nothing is going on, as it is! JMO |

I have seen and read so many controversial articles on eHarmany...that I honestly feel it is just another program to feed off you bank account!
You might want to Google "eharmany", then break it down to "complaints"! That should arm you with plenty of information, for a more informed "future customer"! JMO and good luck! |

Redneck Hooker
A redneck was walking home late at night and saw a woman in the shadows. ''Twenty dollars' she whispers. Bubba had never been with a hooker before, but decides what the hell, it's only twenty bucks. So they hide in the bushes. They're 'engaged' for a minute when all of a sudden a light flashes on them. It is a police officer. 'What's going on here, people?' asks the officer. 'I'm making love to my wife!,' Bubba answers sounding annoyed. 'Oh, I'm sorry,' says the cop, 'I didn't know.' 'Well, neither did I, 'til ya shined that light in her face! " |
