I don't know about that.
If the situation arose that I had to choose a "friend" over a night of gaming, I would need a cinematic flashback that weighed the situation.
If the person seemed to be more...lets say. IMPORTANT. I would drop my game over that just to hang out (even if later on it wasn't worth it.)
But a person I would (even if i did ever talk to any person through e-mails and craigslist) talk to through the Internet holds ridiculously less weight than my video game, until my cinematic flashback counters the weight.
But that's just me though...
