You can go to limewire and download music there. I have used them for a long time now and never had a problem.

limewire is fishy and lots of viruses

This is what they want, Obama is the cover up...simply. He is trying to do the best that he can, but he gets ripped a new one and told to back down by the congress and senate. No matter his thoughts, what he thinks is right, it's going to go the way "they" want it too. They being the government. America doesn't need a president anymore, the government took over that job years ago. Say Kennedy?

Comcast said that 'Comcast provided McAfee' is NOT compatible w/ Firefox ... will not install/run ... that's all I know ... and I can attest to havin' tried my damndest hard!

Oh i Understand now. That's like Kaspersky incompatible with some software, even other security products. Not a good thing when compatibility comes into the picture, especially with well known software.

what about your daughters computer? She on mac too? or this the same computer?

No, daughter got my old Dell XP 2000, top of the line, but 5 years old, 2 year old hard drive ... that's the one currently on Comcast/McAfee that blue screened on me today. Musikman suspected her mp3 downloadin' as the source of bother. I restored it to last known working well configuration and it was fine, whew!

But I hate IE and would love to make the change back to Firefox, just gotta figure the security as the McAfee is/was free ... if useless.

Hear ya ... BIG risk outlay on the Mac ... been my dream for years, as we are both so arty.

Want to get that huge Adobe program as next big investment, could take more yrs as a single parent. She will get to use the Mac for all her artwork, movies, musical composition, etc.

'Macites' all say I'll get an easy 10 years ... got the 24 inch desktop IMAC vs a laptop ... big investment ... MUST last ...

I know you hear/feel me! I'm an unsupported single parent ... he abandoned her ... blah!

well get rid of Mcafee (its useless and you know that) put Avira or Avast or even Panda Cloud (it works great and very diligant if there are viruses on the computer. Get a free firewall, most large companies now offer...such as webroot free firewall, outpost firewall, pc tools firewall..also check into pc tools antivirus these are all free and great tools.

This site: http://www.matousec.com/ does several tests on firewall and antivirus software. There it can tell you the best of the best both free and paid. And most of the free versions are compatible with FF and WOT :)

Wot is a great addition and I would, in my personal opinion, get rid of Mcafee and find a suitable antivirus for Mac (although mac's don't get many viruses, one reason they're so great to have) Then i'd install Web of trust on firefox.

I don't use McAfee on Mac, all 'mac geeks' said not to ... and that nothing is yet unnecessary ... and so preferable to havin' it slowed down by useless programs runnin' ...

That is one of the main reasons I FORCED myself to switch ... I'm sick to death of Microsoft really ...

I don't blame you. I'd switch to mac but never used it and my computer is so outdated i'm lucky I could use vista and 7 LOL...Great that you aren't using Mcafee on the mac. So what is the problem with installing firefox with web of trust? They are both compatible with mac. :)

No, Firefox ... wouldn't let Comcast spyware, firewall, etc run ... would ya say to forget about the Comcast and go Firefox w/ WOT? I did like Firefox soooooo much better, seamless operationally ...

Well, I did that before and lost the Comcast on suite of protection ... not compatible ... DANG!

If you are NOT using Firefox yet, you should definitely switch, then install WOT on it, which when used with search engines, e-mail or any other place that has a link, WOT is there to let you know if it's safe (green circle) or bad (red circle) and does not use any extra resources being that it is a plugin for Firefox. Use WOT with your anti-virus and firewall for added protection. Believe me when I say it will greatly reduce the chances of getting a virus.

what do you mean its not compatible? WOT should have nothing to do with Comcast suite protection....

So comcast suite is just Mcafee? I am curious, how does Firefox prevent comcast crappy Mcafee from running on the computer?

Comcast said they've not yet made it compatible, they/Comcast prevent it, not Firefox... and, DOH! ... Thanx for readin' between the lines ... YES: CCCCCCrrrrrappy McAfee ... lame at best!

Ok, i'm really confused right now about what you said...Comcast has made WHAT not yet available?

Yeah, not thrilled w/ Safari so far ... It is the latest Snow Leopard Mac, heard it might still have bugs interfacing wise ...

And, Mo_Muirnin, Safari w/ Mac??? Better than Firefox ... only thing compatible??? What's the story?

I'm new to Macs ... 1 week in ... THANX!

Firefox for Mac should be compatible and probably much better than Safari...

How is the newest Snow Leopard? Worth getting? I switched back to xp from vista, so glad I did! And my comp uses Panda Cloud, Outpost firewall free and WOT on firefox.

last.fm is a legitimate free music (and paid version) for US residents...they also offer free music downloads on select artists. They have a desktop player and you can create your own station and ban music you don't like....make it your own :) I choose last.fm over Pandora

Bare with me as I try to tell you. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I wanted to make the words bigger because I couldn't see them very well. I was told to go to FRONT OR FONT. What I've is a black screen with white, green and blue words. How do I get it back to just a white with black letters??

uhm, what are you talking about?

mo_muirnin's photo
Sun 09/27/09 03:50 PM

Most web bots are designed to replace your input by an input generated by the computer in a manner that you think you are talking to a real person. In the beginning they were very rudimentary and not so good
They analyze the combination of the words received in a sentence and appropriate a suitable answer.
You may use this to allure punters to a chat site where one person is on a computer and the machine conducts thousands of conversations

My question would be what do you wish to utilize it for?

I simply didn't know what you could use it for. For who's purpose is this and, why?

It's for the purpose of the creator. They've had several shows and many videos on youtube explaining about it. I posted a link to the first video about it if you want to look more into it. Apparently it's been going since 1997 and just recently caught the media's attention, but not sure if it will get lots of exposure, then we can see many programs...but since it might not be valid enough to say, "hey this is definitely going to happen in the future" it might just fizzle out over the years.

Hmmmm. The history chanel???? I was thinking Spybot search and destroy but I have a feeling I am way off base........smokin

Web bot was recently on history channel, also on youtube...software that is similar to search engines but it analyzes links, chat, discussions, etc....mainly data to come up with future predictions.

they say 9/11 was predicted from it.

Never heard of it but I will read about it. Thanks........smokin

link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4PkE8Dw2p4
That would be the one! They said it look's for key word's and the like and, analyze's them.

I don't even think this is available as downloadable software. It most likely uses a very large server to itself, uses a computer or parts....doesn't seem like something anyone can use.
