Some men are just under spoken. Its not necessarily that they are shy, they just dont talk a whole lot or they are not verbally inclined. Thats much more common in men then it is in women. I tend to give people a chance regardless of how talkative they are until they give me a clear cut reason to dislike them.

Yes Ive noticed that also. There are sites that definitely seem to hone in on some specific sub culture. Often times its a particular sexual fetish. You would think a dating community of non-drinkers or recovered alcoholics might be a very good idea. An issue like that is certainly uncompromisable as far as relationship compatibility goes. On this site, you can select "occasionally" on the drinking question but what is "occasionally"? That's awful subjective. I imagine to a confirmed non-drinker, occasionally is too often.

Yes there are a few scattered on the net. I joined one about a year ago and no one ever seem to visit. There appeared to be some members but every time I logged on when I checked "who's online" there was not one person.

So they exist but it seems to be difficult to find one that is really jumping. If anyone has had better luck, I would like to know although Im assuming giving out URLs for other dating sites is a no no so use discretion and perhaps private message.
