Why do men have nipples if they aren't suppost to nurse?

contingency plan.

in times of great need, men CAN nurse...and have done so.

only if in the canine persuasion.

male humans CAN produce milk. men have nursed their children in cases of almost-starvation. some men CHOOSE to nurse. it might seem strange, but with stimulation, just as with an adoptive mother, milk can be brought out.

And this is truth because why? do men have mammory glands? if so are they dormant? I am sorry but what proof do you have to say this?

yes, their breast structure (other than the fat tissue) is identical to women's. they are often referred to as "milkmen".

I am sure you are sure and I choose not to go through all those links you provided.

if you have studied this oddity in length than i will bow to your knowledge.

if you are linking me to facts that are talking about hermaphrodites or the likes than again I will bow.

but this i know to be true. MEN DO NOT GIVE BREAST MILK TO CHILDREN.

no...not hermaphrodites, lol...strictly XY men.

it's not commonplace, but it DOES happen. men CAN lactate.

just like a woman that becomes an adoptive mother and goes through all the stimulation and pumping to be able to produce her own milk...so to can a man. giving birth is NOT necessary for the production of human milk. this is especially true with the treatment of hormones.

they haven't fully tested the composition of male milk as of yet, but they were doing a call-out before to men who DO nurse to test their milk.

and yes, i study strange things. but i didn't run across this one on my own...i'm on an extensive mothering forum site with a HUGE breastfeeding section, and we've discussed this one to the bitter end.

google "male breastfeeding" or "male lactation" and take a look-see; it's quite fascinating.

but just because it's anomalous or out of the range of normal...or something you haven't heard of does NOT mean that it doesn't happen.

and on that note...i'm back to bed. i hate having to get up from a sound sleep to run through and fix things...

*falls to the floor, choking and spluttering*

maybe it's because it's only 4:40 in the morning...but that was literally the funniest comment i've seen in i don't know how long, when taken in context of our discussion.

lol...i really need to sleep.

let me redefine

i hate men who are in a forced situations where a child is starving that they will have the sense of mind to put the childs mouth to their nipple and let them suckle because it as if it were CHRISTMAS and that child is going to get milk out of some sort of mutated neccasity.

i hate those guy. but i like their usefullness.

anyone wanna marry me??

Colombo - A 38-year-old Sri Lankan man, whose wife had died three months ago, appears to have the ability to breastfeed his two infant daughters, doctors said on Wednesday.

The man, from the central town of Walapone, lost his wife during childbirth.

"My eldest daughter refused to be fed with powdered milk liquid in the feeding bottle.

"I was so moved one evening and to stop her crying I offered my breast. I then realised that I was capable of breastfeeding her," the man admitted.

Dr Kamal Jayasinghe, deputy director of a Sri Lankan government hospital, was quoted as saying it was possible for men to produce milk if the prolactine hormone became hyperactive. - Sapa-AFP
