My step-father and my maternal grandmother.. They both taught me so much, they brought love and stability that was always unconditional and I have been able to bring the same to my boys...

I've got several... Depending on what aspect of my life.

Lilith for one. For being something I could not even imagine being, let alone not being capable. A good, patient and understanding Mother to her Son, and going to her work everyday, dealing with the people she has to deal with, and not committing murder!

My Father.. But not so much as a person. He was lacking in many areas. What I admire and aspire to in him was his abilities as an engineer, designer... The day he passed, an incredible mind that was involved in many things we take and will take for granted, went with him. Even though he was an incredibly difficult person to deal with, I feel fortunate to have had the time I had to work with him, and possibly carry on some of his work.

My Mother. For being one of the toughest, yet most peaceful individuals in my world. The exact opposite of my Father.

A dear friend who passed a few years ago, and his wife. Who touched just about everyone I know in this town, one way or another. Knowing them..and his effect on how I think is immeasurable. They both taught me to keep trying with people.. to well beyond what I think my limits might be, knowing that many of my efforts will go unnoticed. That the many do not matter.. Just the one.

My Father....

38, Divorced from my momma and living 1000 miles away, a free spirit living the single life, feared for the safety of his three children. Drove through the night, took us away from her and took on the life as a single dad, because his love for his children ran deeper than even he realized. Many, many examples of his love for us are in our memories forever. The hardest most emotional day of my life was the day he died but the love he had still shines and will forever.........

Okay Jim.... I'm sorry here because I have to just say how touched I am at what Jist wrote.

First and foremost I have always admired Jist, what he has endured, what choices he made, and how he overcame all of that to be this wonderful, funny, smart and sensitive man. In his posts, long before we met, I fell head over heels for him. I do love him so very much.

My parents did a great job with my sister and I. When I am complimented I usually attribute to them, either directly or indirectly. They taught me to learn and how to apply that knowledge. They taught me to perservere and to draw strength from within and from others. They taught me to love and how to be loved. I am a lucky person, for now I get to have the chance to pass that on with my son. flowerforyou

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, sought peace through peace, though unrealistic he did attempt it...even though all was lost after.

My Aunt May; who stepped up and was the Mom that I needed in my life and for numerous others in our family and then honored me with letting me provide her hospice whem many hard years holding up the family on a waitress salary had worn out her body before her spirit. She taught me about the "important stuff".

My late husband who loved me and mine like it was no big deal and taught me I set the standard for what I deserve.
