Yeah really. All she’s saying is that if we ignore the fact that it’s totally inconsistent and full of holes we can convince ourselves to accept the delusion thus pacifying our fears.

The thing of it is that I have no fears that need pacifying. I’m looking for this supposedly all-wise creator to see if I can find some wisdom. If I have to forfeit wisdom to believe in it then the whole purpose was moot to begin with.

Pantheism makes sense. The Biblical story of God doesn’t. I prefer to believe that God truly is wise and truly does make sense. So I choose the picture of a truly wise God.

If the real God turns out to be the idiot described in the Bible at least I gave it credit for being wiser than it actually was. It should at least be thankful for the compliment if nothing else.

If it casts me into a hellfire for praising it for being a higher entity that it actually is, then it was never worth worshiping in the first place. That’s my stance on that.

If God is less compassionate than me then it isn’t much of a God to begin with.
