I wouldn't lay all of the blame on Bush.

Donald Rumsfeld (and others) had a lot to do with screwing up the planning and logistics for the Iraq War.

Perhaps if he hadn't screwed things up so royally there wouldn't even have been need for the 'surge'.

I'm not sure whether the 'surge' is working or not.

Though there seems to be improvements in some areas, people are still getting killed and it's uncertain whether the truce will last.

Not only did Bush proclaim "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED", the neocons thought that we would be hailed as liberators.

The reason we can't leave is the Pottery Barn concept: 'You broke it, you fix it'.

The surge???

hmmmmmmmm,

I believe it never worked.
I believe there are very few Al Qaeda in Iraq,
The reason it appears that the surge worked is
because al-Sadr called off the civil war
that you see raging now!

I hear he asked his men to stand down again
so I reckon the surge will appear to have
worked again!

When al-Maliki loses his big brother and mentor
al sadr will rule Iraq!!

Other than a paycheck
most of the Iraq Army has nothing to fight for
The Mahdi Army fights for their country!

Yes, I suppose anything short of total disaster is viewed as a success.

The peace deal between al-Sadr and Iraqi government forces - said to have been brokered in Iran - calmed the violence but left the cleric's Mahdi Army intact and Iraq's U.S.-backed prime minister politically battered and humbled within his own Shiite power base.

For Now????

I say turn him loose.
Expand our forces toward the borders
to keep Iran from directly interfering, make friends with the winner and give him the aide to maintain!

Bring our troops home, or
transfer some to Afghanistan
and destroy AL qaeda!!

taxes are a way the government controls things. So, if the government can tex the church they can influence it. In turn giving them more power...

why do you say that? (honest question)

the reason I say that is because of his "america for americans" sentiments. Last time I checked, thats not what this country's about.

well what i've been led to believe by our education system is that this nation is suppose to be a haven to those that want to start a life and become something. Now all I hear are complaints about foreigners, very discouraging to those that think the US is still the best country in the world. far from it I should think.

It may be discouraging, but any foreigner coming to this country has to realize that the US, great as it is, cannot afford to support all of them seeking access.

And those that want to stay or become citizens have to give something back.

What are you talking about? The Declaration of Independence was written for the American colonists, by the American colonists. It wasn't some universal proclamation against all kings and tyrants. In fact, our founders were very content with the idea of having to deal with such figures outside our country.

i don't believe you understood his meaning correctly. he's against big federal government and corporations feeding people's pockets. that's how it was meant
