Does anyone know anything about a minor being charged with MIP? I have a friend that her son's girlfriend got arrested Saturday, she is 22 now, but they held her on a 2006 MIP charge. Anyone have any insite on this? As long as it was within the statute of limitations, they can prosecute her. In Mississippi, the state must prove she knowingly (or with purpose) possessed the alcohol. If it is a C class misdemeanor~ her attorney can see if she can plea to a lesser included charge and get on with her life. She would have to pay a fine, do Community Service (maybe) or take a class (maybe)... but if it is reduced enough it should not impact her for the rest of her life if at all. ![]() The MIP was when she was 20, 2006- that was what the hold was for. |

This is about being a minor in the eyes of the law for alcohol (under 21). As an adult, this charge would go on a permanent record. Makes sense? |

The MIP was when she was 20, 2006- that was what the hold was for. Sounds like she did not meet the requirements of her probation/adjudication. |
