so to the woman who has sacraficed the last 15 years of her life being a stay at home mother, dedicated to properly raising her children you would say she has not utilized her potential? Not everyone aspires to be a professional, and sometimes lie gets in the way. I don't know about you but I sure am happy those people work at the ast food joint when I am hungry and pull through. One proession that serves public interest is no more important than the rest. If your azzhole plugs up your brain wont function very long with the toxin buildup

Thanks hikerchick,

you know what i mean. there will always be those that let passion rule their lives. there are a lot of homeless people that probably feel the same way. others live off of others that are perhaps so well endowed that they can afford to do so until they age and the mojo dont work no mo. misery loves company, and friends are a dime a dozen. live well and take care of yourself. peace

I didn't have the luxury of staying at home with my child, so I can't really comment except to say that she surely had a tough job and has much to be proud of.

No,not everyone aspires to be a professional, and that is fine. But I thought we were talking about people we like to date or have a relationship with. I prefer someone who has the same values as I do. I don't think that is so unusual, and that is what OP is apparently looking for. Someone who shares his values. I never said that everyone has to share them - just that I am more attracted to people who do. I never said one profession was more important than the rest. Again, this is not about status or anyone being more important than anyone else. It is about being with someone who shares a common struggle.

well - I came from nothing- 7 sisters, 2 brothers, grew up in the inner city. Although I was the 8th child, I was the first to graduate from high school. The only one to get a college degree. Now I am in grad school. This was a huge struggle and a sacrifice. I could have gone on welfare and stayed home to watch TV but I wanted to provide a better life for my child. So being a professional is a source of great pride to me.

It would be great to find someone who paid the price to improve
themselves and their life by becoming that nurse or teacher, or even doctor or lawyer, of the opposite sex. Race does not matter to me. Decent, intelligent, someones that are taking care of themselves physically, mentally, and financially who just have not been able to find that special chemistry in professional people of their space and time.

From one art teacher in Dallas that cares.

I totally agree. One guy messaged me and ask me if i'm "one of the good ones"! He told me there are bad women out there and he's looking for the good one. Like we are cows! lol. Nevermind that he couldn't spell or be half articulate!...lol
I guess this site is not the "professionals site" ur looking for. I'm a professional, and do all that you mentioned, but still like to mingle with the average . Maybe because i consider myself a people's person, and just like to know and mingle with all sorts of people. Contradictory answer, i agree, but, we all care, right?
You should try Perfectmatch.com....very high quality people on that site! Have a great day!

I may not be consider a professionly by some I work in the office for a construction company doing all the paper work for I'm the only one in there. But it pays well I work every day been there for 10 years and make better then some I know. But..... they don't have to make what I do in order to love them it is in having pride in what they do and to do it the best they can.bigsmile

well I hope you find what you are looking for, but career means nothing to me. I would marry a garbage handler if I clicked with her. You never know who is going to grab you by the heart and take you for a ride. Love over status for me

It's all about having common interests, likes/dislikes.
I think it's hard to let your heart grabbed by someone on a lower level of understanding life.

nah - I would not put it that way. I would not say "lower". I would say "different". It really is not, or should not, be a value judgement. Like Rob said, all people's jobs are important in their own way. For me a lot of it is about the struggle. Someone who has had everything handed to them would not be as interesting to me. I like people who have big dreams and who are not afraid to work hard to overcome adversity.

That to me is just elitist. I am not saying you are an elitist, I am just saying that is how I feel a statement like that rings. I am looking for a partner in life, economics mean zero to me. As was mentioned earlier in this thread though, each person has their own qualifications. I don't care what a person does for a living as long as they possess the traits that endear me. The qualities I am looking for already limit me to a very small section of the population, to ask one to be my equal in business, as well as possess those traits would make it next to impossible, and unreasonable imho

OP~ you talk about the "price" of improving.

For me, it is important that my SO have ambition and drive. Whatever he aspires to be and wherever his drive takes him matters only in that it provides him with fulfillment and the abiilty to meet his needs. His responsibility level is not simply financial. It is to us together and our life as a whole. flowerforyou

I agree. But having big dreams and working towars them, means ur ambitious. And that's great! I think as humans, we have the capacity to think, to be curious and to learn more and more every day. As they say, you learn every day, no matter your age.
On the other side, to be ambitious means not to give up, means thirst for improoving yourself...means...you want more, you want to be smarter. Once you reach your set goal, you're gonna set yourself another one, higher, harder to reach. And, you go for it! That is life, the way i see it! There is so much knowledge out there to accumulate, that i consider my life too short. Of course, we can't know everything, about everything...but we could be thirsty to know more. I know this saying..." as more i know, i realize how limited i am...i know nothing!"
I guide my life by that, every single day.

Rob -for me it has nothing to do with economics. Some professions actually don't pay that much. It has to do with those qualities of a person that I am looking for, just as you are. The qualities I am looking for include ambition and a desire to always strive to improve. It has nothing at all to do with money.

OMG. I am going to pretend I didn't just read this bullsh*t. I am a corporate business woman but would change that in a second to stay away from this mindset.

DUDE.

This is wrong. So wrong.

Passion has everything to do with LIVING life. How boring life must be with you. And feeling-less.

I would live my life over again in an instant and have every bit of the feeling I have now.

This is scary. Really shallow and scary. D*mn.

It is absolutely true to me my lady. I know being a stay at home mother is not the path everyone desires to take, but man is it the hardest job out there. While it may be the hardest job, it can also be one of the most rewarding. I cannot think of a more honorable path for someone to take, and they should not be excluded from consideration based on that decision. People have this image of soap opera watching women lounging on a sofa all day eating bon bon's, it just aggravates me

I feel you, but I would find it really hard to admire a guy who plays games all day.

I might admire certain parts of him...

Rob - in order to be a stay at home mom, you have to have someone else willing to foot the bill.I never had that luxury. I had to raise my child, and educate myself, and support both of us. Why wouldn't I want someone similar? why does that upset you so much? Should I want someone who didn't feel like working hard and so, settled for a menial job? I can't respect that.

Feelings and passion are wonderful. They are marvelous. But somehow you still have to pay the mortgage. There is the rub. Someone has to work.

Hiker, I can appreciate not everyone has that luxury. My point is that to exclude someone based SOLEY on that fact is ridiculous. There are many reasons why someone ends up at the place they are in their life, and it isn't always black and white. To not get to know the person, and the reasons based soley on their current proffesion, or social status is mind boggling to me. If a person is simply content with being a bum it would show immediately after conversing, but to not even allow that opportunity could be cheating YOU out of a lifetime of happiness
