well there is always some injustice no matter what

but this is almost a correct statement

i am just more patient than most

or procrastinate to much

it is a fine line between patience and procrastination

---------

but if you read my posts or have been reading them

i do know it is happening

but the people are not responding

in strong enough numbers yet to

be effective

i have been trying for years

to raise awareness

but if you go to battle without the numbers

one of two things will happen

you get wiped out

or you become the enemy in the eyes of the people

if you do not believe me

look at iraq

What I am saying Gypsy is that a total restriction on guns in Washington D. C. did not cause the murder rate to go down, for several years it was the highest in the Nation. So tell me again how more guns + more people = more killing when a total ban on guns led to the highest murder rate in the nation several years running.

Try the math on this more people + ban on guns = more ane easier victims for the criminals.

no it goes like this

more people + more guns in the hands of honest people

= less crime by far

Here's a listing on per capita hungun crimes. Their info comes from UN stats. A credible source I would think. US is #8 on the hit parade and Canada is #20.

http://www.scribd.com/doc/21670/Crime-Statistics-Murders

Crime rate with handguns has climbed in Canada. Largely due to weapons being brought in from the US.

Now for the reverse argument. I read years ago about a town in Georgia that made it a municipal by-law for all homeowners / renters who could legally have a weapon to have one. They were even issuing handguns to population. ***Note: Not so strictly enforced that if you don't like handguns one is forced on you.**** Crime rate went down to negligible levels in town. Criminals knew they were out-gunned. Courses on gun safety were also given to citizens.

So this is all taking into consideration that the people that do kill people with guns actually buy their guns honestly from a shop?

Hahahaha, right.

that maybe

but i quoted per capita of gun owners if i remember correctly

adj, realistically how many gun crimes are committed by legal gun owners? I believe that it has already been mentioned that the majority of legal gun owners don't use them for crime. It's those who possess illegally who don't hesitate to use for crime.

HYPOTHETICALLY: A country of 30,000,000 could have 100,000 legal owners and 8,000,000 illegal owners and have the highest rate of gun crime going. But this would have nothing to do with the number of legal owners.

Hahahaha, right.

So then you are saying you should penalize all responsible gun owners or the illegal acts committed by criminals? Using that same argument you can now ban any item that can possibly used to harm another since it can be utilized by the criminal element for mischief. ball bats, chains, knives, cars, airplanes, etc. Your is not a valid argument sir

A Gun Control Law Passed by the German Government One Day After Kristallnacht
1573
Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons
11 November 1938
With a basis in §31 of the Weapons Law of 18 March 1938 (Reichsgesetzblatt I, p.265), Article III of the Law on the Reunification of Austria with Germany of 13 March 1938 (Reichsgesetzblatt I, p. 237), and §9 of the Führer and Chancellor's decree on the administration of the Sudeten-German districts of 1 October 1938 (Reichsgesetzblatt I, p 1331) are the following ordered:

§1
Jews (§5 of the First Regulations of the German Citizenship Law of 14 November 1935, Reichsgesetzblatt I, p. 1333) are prohibited from acquiring, possessing, and carrying firearms and ammunition, as well as truncheons or stabbing weapons. Those now possessing weapons and ammunition are at once to turn them over to the local police authority.

§2
Firearms and ammunition found in a Jew's possession will be forfeited to the government without compensation.

§3
The Minister of the Interior may make exceptions to the Prohibition in §1 for Jews who are foreign nationals. He can entrust other authorities with this power.

§4
Whoever willfully or negligently violates the provisions of §1 will be punished with imprisonment and a fine. In especially severe cases of deliberate violations, the punishment is imprisonment in a penitentiary for up to five years.

§5
For the implementation of this regulation, the Minister of the Interior waives the necessary legal and administrative provisions.

§6
This regulation is valid in the state of Austria and in the Sudeten-German districts.

Berlin, 11 November 1938
Minister of the Interior

Actually I was making the point that even if you illegalize guns (which in my opinion is a terrible idea) they will get them, thus funding multiple crime organizations and putting them into more power than before. Gangs don't buy guns from gunshops, put gunshops out of business they have to buy ammo from some other person(s). Organized crime would have a heyday with it.

Should have clarified it a bit more. The US is already a crime epidemic, to illegalize guns would put this country at more risk with organized crime. Organized crime gets enough money, they become untouchable...they become untouchable it will be the 50's all over again.

You will note that I also posted about the reverse of the coin, the place in Georgia. Also that most of our crimes committed with guns are done with weapons coming illegally from the States. For a nation that produces so many weapons the US has never signed the treaty restricting the export of them either, not that it would stop illegal transport of them mind you.
I for one like the idea of responsible gun ownership. As I pointed out the crime rate for all crimes dropped drastically in that Georgia town.

gun laws only keep honest people from their guns not the criminals.
I am personally afraid of guns but would fire one if me or mine were threatened .I pity the fool .Let's make stricter laws in other areas like murder, armed robbery, rape etc.No parole for these a-holes so they wont be walking our streets.I'm also sure no one would be opposed to a gun safety course for beginners and non military/law enforcement personnel.I would feel better if people had a course in proper handling and storage of guns especially around children.
