If it's a child, then the parents, if it's a teenager or older, that person. I mean come on! huh??? What didn't you understand. If they're a teenager or older, they should be smart enough to know what's gonna hurt them. Exactly that, the complete sentence helped.. I agree..  Sorry. Just finished a 5 hour car ride, after a full day at work, it's late, and my brain is only functioning at half mast. No worries, it's late so deciphering is a challenge

the same people you blame when little billy starts selling weed and crack to make money (the people who took prayer out of school?) the same people you blame when little billy goes on a shooting rampage (the gun manufacturer?) the same people you blame when little billy gets a girl pregnant at 16 (the movies? porn?) the same people you blame when little billy blames YOU for his problems (ooooh... thats a tough one...) all i hear is 'you can't control your kids' from parents these days. well i tell ya what. i grew up not very long ago, and you better damn well believe my parents had a handle on my brother and i. same goes for all my friends i grew up with and the vast majority of my family. not everyone turned out perfect, but we all damn well knew better than to try stupid stunts we saw on tv. very few people want to take responsibility anymore, so quite frankly, if a few thousand people are incapacitated tryin to be the next johnny knoxville, i'll chalk that up to darwinism. |

i'm not saying to that to that extreme.  i'm just talking about queenes intial reply that the shows should be responsible. Parents know how their kids act better than anyone else. So those parents who let their children watch said movies/shows knowing they're going to try to recreate/reinact it, is the fault of the parent, not the show. I said that Wonder and the reason being is.. If you have tv's in all bedrooms and the family rooms, sometimes you don't know what they're watching. You can check and they change the channel.. I've heard it many times... I found out my 10 yr old was recording the bunny ranch and no one was aware of it... He knew how to work the tivo, I didn't know how to lock or even think I needed to.. soooooooooooooooooo it's not always black and white... I disagree! It is the parents who allow the TV in the kids' rooms! It is the parents who are paying th cable bill! It is the parents responsibility to KNOW how to block programs they don't want their children to see! Saying your kids do things behind your back is the same as saying you are NOT doing your job as a parent! Ignorance and laziness are not excuses to let your kids do whatever they want. JMHO |

JMHO I don't think I explained that clearly but regardless, I am not lazy and I am not blaming... A little naive at thinking my son would even THINK about something like that yes! I only let him have basic cable is his room so he cannot watch those other shows.. ONE instance doesn not constitute a daily occurence THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! I was giving an example about how things can happen without a parent realizing it or how a parent can give all the ethics, morals, guidance, etc. and still a child/teenager/new adult has a mind of their own and CAN STILL do what they want no matter what they were taught... So although, we as parents are responsible, how do we answer the question of why maybe out son did a stupid jackass stunt b/c he saw the show at his friends house? Are you suggesting that they not be allowed over to a friends? Are you also suggesting that they will abide my YOUR rules while at the friends house???? |

after trying to imitate a dangerous move they saw in a movie, like Jackas$ for example. Who should be held responsible? Have you saw fear factor??? that clearly states, DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY OF THESE STUNTS, so if someone does, then there to blame. Do you remember the Jamie Bulger case, some kids kidnapped a very young child ans tortured him, threw bricks at him, and put him on a railway track and a train went over him. I think he was only about 2, well the boys that murdered him said I SAW IT ON A FILM WE WATCHED. wtf?? sorry no excuses. they deserved to be stoned to death themself, instead there put in a kiddie prison thing, playing computer games all day, is that justice??? i dont think so.

RT I agree with you.. I just also think that some things are done while out and at a friends or on the way to school and that is not just black and white or yes and no... I think the kid should be smart enough to know better than to do something so stupid as to repeat the show but then I think about how kids think things that don't always make sense, that until they understand how to really process things properly they think they're indestructible and they'll survive... |
