She's the one who is immature & rude. You tried to console & explain, but she's evidently too self-important and egocentric, what I call a superiority complex. Some people thrive on the drama. Don't feed into it ANYMORE, and if she brings it up to you, let her know it's no longer open to discussion. If you hear from people or overhear her talking about it, speak up, say something along the lines of "I figured that was your/her character. Shame on her." You REALLY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG.

How were you to know? You did the right thing in trying to smooth things over. If that person didn't accept the apology then forget it. They have the problem not you.

She was totally wrong in her coming up to you like that, but it sounds like your cake was beautiful and hers was probably just a store bought one with the boss's name on it in bad lettering.
