I joined anther site before here and I had no pic for a while, and so I
use to get a lot of responses. Then when I did put a pic up the
responses dropped. So I think the old saying that a pic is worth a 1000
nd words, doesn't always hold true. Sometimes people just like what you
say and your ideas.

I use this pic cause Its interesting rather then my real pic. Just my
preference that's all. I like seeing weird avatars like in Yahoo.

Ghost, Just having that pic is better then nothing.What I hate the most
is,some sites have it where you look at the outline of a pic if the
person doesn't have one. I rather see that cat anyday over nothing.

Sorry hun, but I think a persons words is more importent then a pic,
whether it be a real pic or fake.

Besides, how do you know by a pic if I am real or not?

Ponder that one.

LOL Gost, You wouldn't have spent all this time on this site Posting
messages as much as you have Just to play games.It would be a real wast
of your time and I mean a real long time! lol. Just to scam people. If
you are playing games. I would have to say that this is got to be the
worst way to play people,everyone here that knows you would make you
into a target. :) Yes, people should get to know you for who you are and
not the pic.But, what if you get to know someone and spent some time
talking and you two find out you realy like eachother.Then after all
that you go to show your pic.And that person does not like it. then
what? You spent all that time just to find out that they didn' find you
attractive?

I dont have my picture on here for one reasone i have actually meet
somebody online and a couple of weeks later after talking and getting to
know each other i found out she lied to me the whole time we were
talking and she did have a pic posted and beleive me it was not her.

You are correct ,profiles without photos are scarry. Then you get the
photo and its not someone that appeals to your particular taste and then
feel guilty in different ways for asking for the photo to begin
with....and then have to decide whether to respond again or not. I
figure if you dont own any photos of yourself or a photocopy of a parole
ID then you may have more problems than just loneliness.
If your too beautiful for your own good and want to "evaluate" your
hopeful persuers first then maybe you need to work on that personality
before subjecting the general public to your real or imagined radiance.

Think about that scene in the movie THE WALL Pink Floyd. The faceless
people. Imagine if we all had little blue boxes on our heads that
said, "ask me for my photo".
If not a photo of a face, then something that depicts an interest is
good too. Even an avatar. (I personally love the little gun toten
kitty. I have become to recognize WHO is posting.) It gives you
something other than that little blue box that says, "ask me for my
photo".

Avatars are not an improvement,its another device to hide behind. See
the pretty kitten,oh pretty, fluffy, kitten impress me with your tender
vittles in the size proportional freshness pouch. Or you
Wile-E-Coyote,seen any waskilly wabbits so full of cute-e-ness todway?
Hide behind your blue boxes,we know who you are anyway.

I think an avatar to me says more about a person then a pic of
themselves.

But again your right about if a person posts a lot of messages without
their real pic that says that they are genuine at lest.

I have seen some real terrible pics of people and they look much better
in person. So like wise a person can have a real good pic of themselves
and in person be not quite attractive too. So it all boils down to buyer
be wear.

for my side- i dont put a pic b/c i dont find myself attractive- low
self esteem issues, my friends disagree but when i have an ill
perception of myself then how can i choose a pic for everyone to see and
judge me by- no way, in the words of tweek from south park, "it's too
much pressure!"

It sounds like you are being to harsh on yourself, we are all imperfect
people and I agree with your friends, sounds like they are seeing
something that your not. Life is to short to spend it worrying about how
you look or being judged and looks aren't everything. Not everyone is
looking for perfection, just someone real, honest, say what they feel,
likes & dislikes, just being yourself. Enjoy life to the fullest and
find true happiness. "it's too much pressure!" - Let it go and just be
YOU!

You are right, But you can also be fooled by a picture sometimes the
pics are from some time ago.
