I love a good debate but insulting and putting people down because they don't believe what you do is wrong.

Why are opinions/views not respected? Granted not everyone will ever agree on everything but let's pretend to be civilized and respect our fellow members, instead of turning threads into personal attacks. (sharing my opinionflowerforyou)

opinions are great, i like to see other people point of view. but what i DONT LIKE is personal attacks on people. thats wrong

exactly. Like when someone posts an opinion on something and someone else tells them to stop trying to be a doctor.

I try my best to always think before I speak, so guess I expect the same (duh! rarely happens:wink:) my gripe truly is not "usually" with what is said but the way it is said/directed to me. I respect everyone's opinion and am thick skinned, just curious to hear about how others feel on this topic

good morning allflowerforyou

Honestly, I think there are some people who deliberately post an incendiary topic and then sit back and wait for the drama to begin so they can start reporting people. I have seen it happen time and again. And then you have the people who continually post the self-pity threads. They are setting themselves up for a bit of a personal attack because people just get sick of hearing it after awhile.

And then you have the fact that one person's honest opinion is another person's personal attack. And the fact that some people just have no sense of humor. Someone was complaining about something once, and I said "tell mama about it" and someone blasted me for not being sympathetic enough. WTF? And there is one person who follows me around the forums criticising everything I do and say.

So a lot of these "personal attacks" are based on differences in perception.

true but with the self pity threads...if you don't like it....don't read it.

I know some people post those because they want to vent or something or maybe they really want help

Really... who can affect somone's personal integrity, without one's permission?

Fran you can say whatever you want to , about me, my character, my beliefs, my understandings, and it wont make a dot of difference to me...

You are just being you... you cannot affect me...UNLESS I CHOOSE TO ALLOW IT.

And so I get the giggles, when someone wants to rattle my chain...  flowerforyou

If they really want help they should call a professional. This is not a help line, it is a social site. We are not prepared to help people with serious problems. And you don't have to read the pity threads but sometimes, the top five are all self pity threads from the same guy. Don't you think someone should at least try to tell him to knock it off? Not that he listens, but still. Are we supposed to pretend that his behavior is acceptable?
