What age would you choose?
So many people only want to adopt babies...
(and usually girls at that)
What age would you choose?
and what sex?
Is there an age where a child is to old to be adopted, in your opinion I mean?
I always thought that I would adopt a 17 year old... That way, if we don't like each other, we only have to stand being together for a year...
Lol... (and yes, I'd adopt a girl) lmao. J/k... maybe.

id adopt a sibling group... age doenst matter too much although it may be easier on my kids if my oldest stays the oldest of the group... but i think it would be nice to keep siblings together. and id prefer girls, only cause i already have boys!

what a weird question.. lol

I would adopt any child: race, age, sex, etc. doesn't matter. Children are children and deserve the best parenting, unconditional love, respect, stability, etc. in life.

i was adopted as a baby -thank God for it.

i'd adopt any age, boy or girl...

...but i was raised with 6 brothers, and i have a teenage son

so i think boys are generally easier to raise.

Yes, it is sorta a strange question... I wonder what made this guy ask that? Lol.
Well, it does get the ball rolling, and, I try to ask questions that people will actually respond too.

I like the siblings answer... it hadn't occured to me that many might want to focus on snagging up those kids that are already a family unit, and, most likely will be seperated...
That's decent, way to go.

Pretty rockin, that so far, nobody said that they wouldn't adopt at all.
Keep those opinions comin folks...
And thanks to those that have responded already.

My (no longer) significant other of seven years was adopted as a child...
I payed for her to meet her mother when she turned 21... (lol, also, to find out that she was irish)
hmmmmmmmmm.... I really miss that girl.

I would like to adopt a child...and the age should be old enough for the child to know she/he was adopted.
Adopting teenagers comes with its own set of troubles but Im sure with its own rewards...and one would have to consider that the relationship would be very different than adopting say a 5 or 10 year old....
I wouldnt care about gender or race..too bad that its so difficult to adopt since there are many children waiting for families.

To true... By the time most kids are available for adoption (or, more specifically, made available) they've already grown up!

grumble Personally I don't WON'T to THINK of SELECTIVE CHIDREN

If I or anyone wanted a child. HOW ON EARTH could you view and SHOP, like THEIR puppies in a pet shop?

If GOD was to BLESS you with the ability to HAVE one to ADOPT,
PLEASE,,,,TAKE THEM AS THEY ARE. W/O any KIND of thoughts that
YOU might have MADE ANY KIND of MISTAKES in ADOPTING THEM!

Sometimes the smallest words can DAMAGED a young HEART forever.

GOOD LUCK in your search for JUST-THE-RIGHT-KIND of Child.

I would say that I would want to adopt a girl. As I have tried four times for one and got a boy each and every time. But the race or age would not bother me.

Adoption is such a hard thing to do for most of us. Many would like too, but cannot. It is shameful really.
I was not a good candidate according to them, but I have had luck with taking custody through the parents of my boys.
It worked out well. I was a good mom. And their parents were in their lives.
I would have adopted a child through the system if they had allowed me too. My sister tried to adopt a baby and they also made it waaaay to difficult for her to do so. Neither one of us cared about the sex of the child. However I would have liked a girl, I have all boys.
I have looked into a big sister program, without any luck. Seems I am not trusted to do that either with my felony and all.

Crazy how so many people want to adopt, and yet, so few of us qualify... (especially compared to the parents that had to/willingly gave them up)
If someone has a place for a child...
why are the requirements so strict?
(lol... I know... (not personally, luckily) that a felony really can be a pain in the ass)
Yes, we must protect children from "predators"... but, at the expense of the child having a family home?... or a chance for a family at all?

You know whats strange? I tried before I had a felony. Not only that....but all the boys I raised have college degrees. Good jobs and are on their way. Well, except for one...he is doing that as we speak. I mean the college thing.

Well, it sounds like you have a lovely family.
Way to not let the felony hold you down, even if it kept you from some of your dreams, it obviously didn't do the same for your kids.
