I was raised to be helpful and kind to all elderly people. My brother and I would be ashamed of ourself if we did not help. Some people I have seen lately are very rude,to the elderly.

I was taught to respect my elders...and I do. I was also taught yes m'aam and yes sir...but some people just weren't raised that way...which is sad
|

I agree. I have seen that lately as well. There seems to be a complete lack of respect and honoring of the wisdom of the elder. They have much to offer and much to teach to an open heart.

Whether the old person has wisdom or not, and some of them don't(they're human too), shouldn't matter. They should be respected for making as long as they have, regardless. I think people who don't respect the eldery don't respect life in general, I could say more on the subject... but I think I'd better stop there.

ive worked with the elderly for many years. these are people who have earned the respect and are not so often given it. these people have paved the way for us. i have about 100 pages i could write on this matter...good for you sweetie for making this topic!

It's a shame that young people these days aren't taught more respect for the ones that have gone before them! I love being there when some one needs my help and when they want to talk but a lot of people forget that our elderly have given us all we have since they went into the world before us and paved the way.

I agree. A lot of people don't respect the elderly anymore and it is very heartbreaking to see. I'm a server so often here other servers complaining when they come in. I never understand it, because more often than not they have the best stories, and so sweet!
