If they do redistribution of wealth I will actually leave. I am sure many educated people will find jobs over seas if that happens. We didn't bust our buts at schools to make the same as everyone else he didnt work for it. Yup yup...  You would have to go overseas because that's where big business has shipped all of our jobs. |

i wish it were that simple Dragoness. Unfortunately when you take from one and give to another you are generating hate in society. This leads to discrimmination. I agree we should look out for the less fotunate, but without holding their hands. Education is key i think. One of the big reasons our middle class grew so large in the first place was education benefits given to veterans. In many cases they could make more money by going to school than working full time. This encouraged many of them to pursue their education right thru PHD's. well Im not entirely sure I agree with you, and thats because Im using my parents experiences..Like many others they came to America looking for better opportunities and were able to find it. With only a grade school education and never earning much more then mininum wage my folks were able to purchase homes, cars and live very comfortably..they were considered lower middle class. Thats because as factory workers they were able to purchase the goods they made..that doesnt happen anymore. The middle class is going the way of the do-do and that's where America stands on very shaky ground. Today, you need a Ph,D if you want to live in the "middle class" category. Thats a far strech from my parent's days. |

Anyhow about the redistribution thing, i admit i was kinda reaching in the sense that i was only referring to the more extreme cases. Generally if you are constantly taking from one person and giving to another you are being prejudice. It's one thing to do it in small quantities and another to do it on a large scale over time. Like if guy A. makes 150k a year and guy B. barely breaks 25k, and you take 50k from from guy A. to give to guy B. Guy A. will resent letting go of all that hard earned cash for someone he doesn't know. Resentment evolves into segregation. I'm just scared that we will slide back into segregation after all these years. |

I'm curious, which Presidential candidate do you think will do the most for the middle class and lower income people? Or don't you care or think it makes any difference?  You mean which one could have... Kucinich - and he would have went after Bush and Cheney - or Edwards. A ticket with both would have been awesome. You the man!!! Dennis Kucinich? The guy with the big ears married to the "teenager" a head and a half taller than he? The guy who not only believes in UFO's, but has admitted he has seen one? No way, Kucinich is liable to spend all the money helping his friends from outer space!

I'm not advocating anything communistic like Red China. Wages can be raised for the poor and middle class for a fairer distribution of wealth so that they can pay their bills and maybe even be able to afford health insurance. but you are advocating communism.....which ruins entrepreneurship (black market excluded) and would ruin the economy....like it it did in Russia... |

No, I am an engineer. I don't have to work for big business, and if I did decide too, big business already has jobs outside the US for me to choose from. Everywhere needs engineers and US engineers are considered to be some of the best. Also engineering jobs are on the rise and people entering the profession is declining. It is a students market in my field. |

Determining which candidate would help the middle and lower income classes is a hard question to answer, particularly since most of these candidates have missed a significant number of important votes in 2007 that would have helped both classes. As an example, they skipped the original SCHIP vote and the energy bill vote. However, considering everything, McCain would probably be the safest bet when it comes to helping the middle and lower income classes.
Also, historically Republicans cut taxes, which help the middle class, whereas Democratics raise taxes, which hurts the middle class. Recall that it was Clinton and a Democratic-controlled Congress, which passed NAFTA that caused all kinds of econonomic woes for the middle class. Democratics favor allowing illegal aliens into the country who not only steal jobs from the lower and middle classes but also put horrendous strains upon the education and hospital systems that the lower and middle class depend on. So, all said and done, Republicans tend to be good for the middle class and Democratics tend to be bad for them, which is why most middle class people vote Republican. |

someone mentioned that this is about comunisim, which is about tearing down class,
remove the social class structure and you get rid of needing to redistribute anything..for example... Why should a CEO make 150 times more than the administrative assistant who works for him? What does that person do to deserve more money than say a soldier? Who decides who is more valuable than the other person? |

I feel that when Republicans cut taxes, it helps the upper class more than the middle class. Most of my friends, family, and co-workers vary from lower income to upper middle. NONE of them vote Republican. The Republican Governor in my state has done severe damage to the lower income and the middle. He has hurt so much - even our hospitals. People of all incomes have gone to him by the busload to protest. |
