*****I see democracy as a conversation to be had. According to this conception, the genius of Madison's design is not that it provides a fixed blueprint for action. It provides us with a framework and rules, but all its machinery are designed to force us into a conversation.

This is a very nice sounding very well spoken way of saying that we can throw out the constitution when it doesnt fit with what we are trying to do(in my opinion). like it is an obstacle of some sort to the advancement of something. an advancement of what I ask? What is it the constitution stood in the way of Barack?

The constitution is very clear with regards to damn near everything we do, it is only when trying to rewrite it or "interpret" it do we find that it gets mangled up and watered down.

Im not going to lie, I wish I could speak like he does(except truthfully). Democracy is a conversation, it is one being had right now in small places in the world where people long for freedom. Barack you are no founding father, as smart as you make yourself out to be, you will never be on the same intellectual playing field as they where.

Our founding fathers were geniuses. The constitution should be followed. Only in EXTREME circumstances should we ever amend anything written in that book of rules. You are right Doc they make everything clear. They break down the delicate balance of power to a T. If we mess with it too much certain individuals will become too powerful bringing to an end our democracy.

Hey guys ...... I basically said the same on the previous page. Of course, I am not referring to paragraph one. Below is the part of my post, which pertains to the above, in case you missed it.

I do not believe in a Living Constitution, which means the Constitutution can be interpreted to suit each generation. In other words, our Constitution means whatever we want it to mean at a given time. Therefore, our Constitutuion will never mean the same thing at different times in our history. Therefore, a Living Constitution is no Constitution at all since it effectively repeals the Constitution.

We need to remember that the framers of our Constitution made the amendment process difficult, because a constitution that is easily amended is more likely to be changed casually. Our Founding Fathers wanted to make amending the Constitution a burdensome task. In other words, they had no intent of it ever being a Living Constitution.

The above is the mindset of Hillary, Obama and most Democrats/Liberals. However, Republicans are Constitutionalists, which means they believe in the Constitution, as it is and are not looking for ways to change its meaning.

Too bad that when Bush & Co. got to the part where "All men are created equal" they interpreted that to mean that some men were more equal than others.

But of course the word animal/men changes, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. ..."

Hey, you started all of this implying that Bush and Company believe they were more equal than others. I go along with that, if Bush and Company are claiming to be more equal than Pelosi and Reid! laugh laugh

I think theyre claiming to be more intelligent than Pelosi and Reid. An assertion that I believe as well.

To many times in recent history we republicans have been characterized and assaulted for not being as "smart" as the hippy loving socialist communistic party known to most as the democrats, Im glad happy and messing all over myself watching the collapse of their elitistism, people waking up all over the place, just out of the blue saying wait a damn minute, I know I work in a union and they tell me dems are the greatest, but these people dont believe what i do!

texas and ohio yesterday did more than predicted, first they kept Hillary in the race (just as I said they would), second they insured the dems would lose all power this coming november. its more than a prophecy, it will be fact. people are tired of their stupidity.

But yet homeland security want to take away the very rights that the constitution gave us and I sit here and watch it happen .. I am kicking and screaming and others are just like Okay .. it makes no sense to me ...I will find a tree to hug and keep my civil liberties any day ..

Not really looking to pick a fight, but have your civil liberties(YOUR civil liberties) been violated in anyway what so ever, or have you just been told that they are or can be?

I have never, not once, ran across anyone who said that the patriot act actually violated their civil rights, not one person. Do you know anyone who has ad their violated?

Just a question.

Well if they had I am not sure that i would know cause who knows if my phone is tapped or not .. but the fact that they could is upsetting ... I don't want to think that those things could happen .. too many of my relatives have fought for the very rights others are handing over .. on one side of my family you can trace us to the Revolutionary War .. all men and women are created equal...after that it up to the men and women what they do with their lives..I hope your not suggesting that we believe you treat everyone the same...if you are at a club and buy a friend a drink and if you treated everyone the same you'd be buying everyone in that club a drink...drinker
