just how hard it is to get off alcohol and cigarettes, well I do have never let it interfere with me working was always employed, still look at the money wasted a 12 pack of beer daily, a couple of packs of smokes daily, I quit both cold turkeythe beer about a year ago, the smokes about 6 months ago. still want both quite often but have managed to keep them in my past, not in the present or future.

Not a disease, it is a choice and not a very difficult one at that. You grow into the habit of solving your problems with alcohol it becomes a chore to find another way to deal with that problem. I've been drinking since I was 11, the most was a span of three years from 18 to 21...I quit. Not a difficult decision to make nor the most impossible choice, now I drink on occasion maybe once or twice a week and not that much...again it is not a disease you do have a choice, just have to decide whether your going to listen to that part of your brain or not.

Bravo!W~S.Keep up the good work.I hope ur saving up the $ U would generally spend on both.U deserve 2 treat urself 2 a vacation or something U always wanted. That's a reward U deserve.I rarely drink so that's never been an issue. Now;cigs we'll that's another story. If I get stressed or excessively worry there the first thing that comes 2 mind. It's all psychological & oral as U know.I'll keep trying 2 quit though.Take care my friend.Godspeed!CyPoet.

The difference between an alcoholic and a heavy drinker is what happens after the first drink. I always had a choice about the first one..it was the ones after that I had no control over. I absolutely could not predict what would happen after that first one..sometimes I managed to have one or two; sometimes I woke up days later. If you don't understand that kind of loss of control, you probably were a heavy drinker and not an alcoholic. That being said - off booze since 1988 Off cigarettes since 1996 Life is good! |
