izzie I am in no way dismissing your feelings , they are yours to have ,,,, online dating is harder than real dating .. in the real world if you are sick or need a hug it is there .. online who will hold your hair back when you vomit , or comfort you when you have a nightmare, or laugh with you when you see something random ....

online dating is the screening process for the real thing, I think if you make a connection on here and then maybe on the phone...then you should defiatly meet with said person...because....well you just should

I agree that online dating "should" be considered real, but until you meet that person face to face and spend time with them and look into their eyes, you really don't know them. As the others have said, you have been talking to a computer screen and only know the image they want you to know. You don't know them in a bad mood, if they have a bad temper, drinking/drug problem, etc. I don't know why he would say those things to you and be such a jerk, there are a lot of players out there. I would recommend that you take it really slow and get to know the person really well before making any kind of commitment, protect your heart from being hurt again. Only consider yourself best friends until you actually meet. That is what I would do anyways. I am sorry you got hurt, Izzie, you are good people and deserve better.
