Wow this was a fair country until Bush's boy GWB decided to invade Iraq and "spread" democracy to the Middle East. Now thanks to the ne-cons we are the unquestioned imperialist power in the world. If Darth Cheney had his way we would be invading Iran next.

Love it or leave it b itches!

I can be critical of the US and still live here. That love it or leave it mentality reminds me of Archie Bunker not exactly an intelligent or informed source on "Patriotism".

To conservatives Patriotism means whatever the US does is right no matter what!. An individual can love their country and still criticize it's actions. Hence the main reason we are a better place to live then some 3rd rate bananna republic. That love it or leave it attitude worked real well for Castro, Stalin, and Hitler, didn't it? (rolls eyes sarcastically as I say this.)

America is the best country but she has work to do and much much more thanks to babyshrub trying to take it down the toilet. I believe as long as everyone learned the lessons we needed to when we allowed baby shrub to take us down we will be fine. Changes are a comin'

Agree, it just worries me when the people aren't informed and some freedoms are being taken away.

How great is the USA? I made reference to this fact on another thread. Our country is so great that people are literally dying to get into it. Take the Cubans. It is a routine event for a Cuban citizen to get into an inner tube with one paddle and attempt to navigate the 70 miles of water between Cuba and the USA to gain entry to the USA. Those Cubans who do this know that their chances of survival on the open waters in an inner tube are next to nothing, and that the reality is they will probably die in their attempt to reach the USA. But they are willing to take that one chance in a hundred or maybe it is a thousand to get to the USA, because the USA is so great.
