One of my child hood friends is Gay. He is like my Brother. I got together with him,and his partner. He's a good guy, but he is allways telling Gay jokes. I makes me very uncomfortable. I think it makes my friend uncomfortable also. Should i tell his Boyfriend how i feel, or just let it go because of my friend?

I'd find a way to tell him. I'm pretty blunt, not sure I can give you the best advice.

Ask your friend how he feels about it first. Then suggest to your friend that he politely discuss the situation with his partner.

He's your friend Im sure he wouldnt want you to feel bad around him. Anyone else has problem with it then its up to them to speak. Just a wild guess but maybe you are projecting your own feelings of embarrassment onto your friend...are you REALLY ok with your childhood friend being gay? Ive lost "friends" because of my sexuality...it happens when people cant be honest about their feelings. |

If any other friend said or did something that made you uncomfortable, would you not tell them? I think asking him to tone it down is not at all unreasonable.
In a way, you're allowing him to exhibit behavior that is going to do damage to your relationship... (potentially) because you're afraid he's going to think what? That you don't like gay jokes? Just tell him, I'm sure he's no stranger to hearing things he does not like. |

Its very hard, because of the question that allways comes up if i do question something. Are you sure that him being Gay is not a problem. Doesnt matter if we grew up together. Even when i had to keep answering question about if i were Gay, because my friend is. I never turned my back on him. Well you know what i mean Brian, it sounds as if your friend needs constant validation that you accept him. And that is not at all your problem. I'd just think long and hard before I brought it up, and preface the conversation with something along the lines of... "Hey, you're my friend and friends can talk about anything. I accept that you are gay, but sometimes things you say make me uncomfortable.... and I hope you'd tell me if I ever did that to you. It would mean a lot". |

so I am fat and sometimes I make fat jokes.
Just trying to let the people I am with know that I am comfortable with myself and they don't need to walk on eggshells - they can say whatever. |
