Questions Of Endearment
A lady asked her lover What he felt inside, He wouldn't give the answer, For fear of foolish pride. She spoke his name so clear, As tears began to fall, Then she asked the questions And hoped he wouldn't stall. Would it break your heart, If you saw the tears I cried? Would you understand my thoughts, If I pulled them from the light? If you couldn't see These eyes that look at you, Would you feel me staring, As I so often do? Would you feel my hold, If my loving arms fell weak? Would you feel the love, If my lips refused to speak? If my breath no longer gave, Would the pain cut like a knife? If I closed my eyes in death, Would you love me back to life? A lump had formed within his throat, As tears had crushed his pride. The answers, although easy, Were spoken out of stride. Beloved hear my heartbeat And hear my gift so true, Each answer that I give Speaks my deepest love for you. Fadedspirit 2/22/2008 |
