OK I got it that pretty much everyone here won't date a cop...but you know cops need love too! happy I am also understanding that they have different pesonalities than most other people. But is he interested or just playing?huh

I think he is the only one who can tell you that. WE never met him or you and most of us are not psychic.

Start some killer conversation with him, and ask him to explain a waffle, and a pancake to ya ;)

why do you say run?

cops are also well-known for having an incredibly high rate of alcoholism and domestic violence. you might want to keep that mind before starting something up with the fella.

i've known a number of families with cops, and the drama present is just immense. the stress of the job is just too great.

Well it is a profession that attrats the dredge of society. There are three kinds of people who want to be cops. Bullies who want the power, weaklings who want revenge, and people who generally care. Only 10% really care.

If you like him in a casual way tell him he is giving mixed signals. Then he has the choice to fix it, or you can bow out.

Just ask him exactly this... Preferably as if you are talking on a radio.

'Hey five-oh. What is your twenty with me? Over?'

My father was a police officer for 32 years and he was trained (get that word) to be very introverted about everything. They are trained to share nothing about their work with their spouse or significant other. They are trained to be cautious, investigative about everything. They are trained to be constantly looking for something that isn't quite right about any situation. It's something that my mother and I had to get used to. My father NEVER discussed his work with us. It was totally taboo. You either understand it and realize it has absolutely nothing to do with you or your relationship you are seeking, but does reflect on the relationship you two will be sharing. He won't be very open and forthright with you due to that word....training. It's just an inbred response system that is tough at best to deal with. Only a rare lady can handle it. My mother was one. I didn't marry in the field myself. Couldn't deal with the secretivity. Jane

I have to disagree with most of the posts on this one. Have been dating a police officer for just over a year and I have not witnessed any "control" issues...quite the contrary! I have grown to love the man in the uniform. flowerforyou

LISTEN to your instinct's! He may well be playing with you. I went through this with the constant texting. He's a Dirty Dog, the one I expierenced.

My brother is a cop, and newly single, and he is an incredible person.... but yes, some of them are control freaks.

I let a little boy who is a compulsive liar get under my skin, so i grounded myself for a bit, to collect my thoughts.... I'm much better now.

I dated a cop for 3 1/2 years. I thought he was a great guy. I trusted him completely. Yes, he was VERY hard to get close to. Yes, he acted indifferent at times yet kept calling. He was interested but not overly so. We were comfortable together. I worked in dispatch so we could vent and understand each other. It was easy.

Then, 3 years later, I found that he was online surfing... not for porn.. but for p***y. Literally out looking for a casual sex partner online. He'd visited it over 75 times in about 2 weeks...

I wasn't even thinking he was cheating. I was housesitting while he was on vacation with his parents and brothers. I was checking my email on his computer and got an instant message from some girl (his messenger automatically came on when you started the thing). It got me to thinking so I checked the history and TAAADAAAA!

Then it took six more months and the threat of a restraining order on the advice of a cop from another jurisdiction.

Messy.

I say tread lightly. Listen to what he says, not what his actions seem to say to you. If he says he doesn't want a girlfriend, he doesn't want a girlfriend. If he says that yet still wants to hang out he's only looking to hang out with someone. You will want more than he's willing to give.
