by their version of religion, they're not tempting anything. that's your view. in their minds, they're protected because god would not harm them.

i really wish religious folks would practice what they preach. if you believe in jesus and all that, let god be the only one to judge.

They can do as they wish. I do not judge outside of my family. The scriptures do say with what judgement you judge you will be judged. This does not mean we do not judge. We have the 3 judgements before a brother is put out of the Assembly. We are also told those of you who bring back a sinning brother will cover a multitude of sins. Also Judgement starts at the House of Israel. This speaking of the saints. judgement is not for gratification. Judgement in this life is to warn the believer of his actions. Would you not warn a brother who is about to swim across a pond full of Water mosiquinses. You do it out of love not self rightousness....Blessings...Miles

Although I have family members into this type of religion,And there are alot of people here in Kentucky that do this. I myself could never and would never. I beleive that you are testing God when you do this. I am mearly human... I guess thats the only thing I can say about it.

There are 9 gifts spoke about and they are in Acts. Paul was the one who spoke about them. Snake Handeling wasnt one of them.

No, he's right. The thing about handling snakes is at the end of Mark. It's not found in the oldest versions of Mark and the early church fathers questioned if those verses belonged in Mark.

no problem I was just playing around. In one of the later Omen Movies 92? The mother i think of this little girl who was evil adopted by Damien was a snake handler and prophet and this investigator showed her a picture while she was walking around and handling snakes and it scared her and the snakes killed her.. That's what the comment was about. I was just hav'in fun..Shalom...Miles

I saw snake handling when I was a little girl at a baptist church in North Carolina. After a while they passed the snakes among the congregation and I was very nervous. I did not touch the snakes. I did not understand why god would want us to "test" god's love in this way when god had (to me) shown us love by sense to just leave the snake alone.

But what frightened me more than the snake handlers was the "speaking in tongues" and "falling out". A bunch of people at the front of the church were dancing and shouting and some of them began to shake and scream words or sounds that were not in any language I had ever heard before. I remember one really large black woman screaming and shouting. And then she looked straight up at nothing and was screaming and "bam!" she crashed to the floor. The floor was shaking anyway from all the people jumping around but i thought I could feel it shake more when she fell.

It was my best friends grandma's church. I never went back. It was like going to a haunted house to me, fascinating but too scary. Years later she told me some people were bitten by snakes one week and the church members blamed the victims. They said that those who were bitten must not have had enough faith. But the church was within the city limits and the city told the church they couldn't have poisonous snakes within the city limits anymore. So they limited the snake handling to a few times in the summer at "tent revivals" outside of town.

I wonder why you asked Mirror. Have you had experience with this or just general interest?

i read a book in which a man traveled the world looking for the worlds deadliest snakes and the people whocatch and handle them.He went to tennessee and talked to a pastor of a snake handling church.they keep them in boxes and believe the snake venom will not harm you if your faith is unwavering in the Lord.
Sorry I would rather eat dog poop than handle an angry rattlesnake.
