Topic: could someone please be happy for me???

I just went to dinner with my kids and dtr's bf. she's been seeing him for some time, they are inseparable, two peas in a pod, he is respectful towards her, loves her to pieces. today she announced that he'd proposed and she'd said yes. I was THRILLED!!! and excited to share news with family but, of course, she wanted to do some of the sharing herself so we split up family with rock/paper/scissors. well, family sucks sometimes. I'm getting negative feedback - one sister who is just out of a divorce, very bitter and such... I just need someone to be happy with me about the good news.

I can relate, sort of. My oldest daughter just got married yesterday. They have known each other a year, have a baby girl together and they do love each other. His mother thinks they only got married because of the baby. His father thought they should have gotten married a long time ago, I had to agree. Yes, they haven't known each other long, but they do love each other. So, I AM VERY HAPPY FOR YOU AND WISH YOUR DAUGHTER AND HER FIANCEE THE VERY BEST OF LUCK!!!!!!

most people coming out of a divorce are gonna have a negative outlook on it. but you cant pay attention to what they have to say. the decision i solely that of your daughter's and her boyfriend. i wish them much luck in their future together!!
