Possibly both, but my question to you would be...why would you want to go out with someone that you have to bribe in the first place? the gesture isn't always a bribe... taking a risk..possibly.. but I think he is trying to make a point to her ..that he is true to what ever he is saying to her and wants to show her ,that he is real and sincere..... I commend him for putting himself out there...

I commend him for putting himself out there... Yet...on the other hand, she doesn't seem really interested in him for whatever reason...hence her hesitation to go out with him. After receiving several gifts, she may feel obligated...or she may like material objects. A risk. Certainly. There is no doubt about that.
