I think there is too much hyperbole going around as far as the illegals are concerned.

The Lou Dobbsians are saying: 'kick 'em all out!' and others are for a more balanced approach, like what John McCain endorsed.

But few are asking themselves:

'How do we deal with so many illegals? Is there a way we can get them to come forward and self-identify?'

I'm not saying just give them all citizenship, but the only way to deal with illegal immigrants that are in this country is giving them a way to self-identify.

There is no way logistically to round them all up. Impossible. No way.

Employers who hire them without getting identification should
pay a heavy fine, because, to me, this is the main reason they stay in this country illegally.

I do think illegal aliens, once they self-identify, should pay a
fine for breaking the law and possibly go back to Mexico or their country of origin for awhile.

If they have no felonies or other serious crimes they could apply for a temporary work visa, or citizenship, if they wished, but they would go to the back of the line of others who have already applied for citizenship.

The temporary work visa would have a hologram which could not be counterfeited.

This is not hard to do and is not rocket science.

My driver's license has a hologram.

If "homeland security" would actually do something to "secure" then maybe we wouldn't have this problem. If our boarders are not protected, then how in the world do you know who really is coming through?

Oh come on. Do you really think the government cares? Please. If they did, then don't you think that maybe most of the homeless population wouldn't be veterans? Or people with mental illness? I think these people get social security and how is it really helping them? Doesn't the saying go :Opinions are like assh*les, everyone has one and they all stink?

Well I do have a heart that is red and warm although it may seem black and cold. Maybe it's just my experiance that I have had. Don't want to offend anyone. So I will just leave with this.

Did your dad serve in Viet Nam? If so his diabetes is more than likely Agent Orange related and he is entitled to VA disability payments if he was there have him check that out through the VA.

our government is not perfect, but sure is better than Iran, Sudan, Cuba, Russia, Chinam, Korea, etc. I'll take the good ol' USA anyday

If our government did not care,then why was social security implemented in the first place?

My main point in starting this thread was to inform citizens of what all is offered through the Social Security program, AND, why there is a possile crisis or dwindling of funds in the near future.

It states in the first post that it has become evident through several presidents, including Clinton, who made no attempt to do anything to improve the situation, and President George W. Bush, who had a plan, but the democrats shot it down and did not even have enough care or concern to offer any of their own ideas. Perhaps they want to wait till all the Baby Boomers, such as myself, start collecting and then try to put the blame on President Bush. BUT there is plenty of documentation that Pres. Bush tried but dems balked at Pres. Bush's efforts.

It is not just social security checks to retirees that is taken from the Social Security fund, but other needy and useful programs to help our citizens. It is going to get to the point where funds are very tight, and someone has to care enough to come up with a solution to keep Social Security Solvent.
