Hi,

I had to delete your thread, which i was reluctant to do, I think the amber alert thing is a good idea, The problem is, it falls under spamming the boards for other sites. I do intend to see if we can get some kind of rule change, which might allow this for organizations designed to help people, in the meantime, what you could do, is repost about the Amber alert without naming the site, and simply say email me for more info.

sincerely,

Mark ~ Forum Moderator

TRULY SAD! AND I BELIEVE THAT YOU LET OUR CHILDREN DOWN BY DOING THIS. THIS WAS NOT SPAM!!! IT IS ENDORSED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!

WHAT BETTER WAY TO SPREAD THE WORD TO PROTECT OUR KIDS THAN POSTING IT ON A HIGH TRAFFIC FORUM?

When it comes to an Amber alert who really cares what forum site it comes from? It is a child.
My gosh.....

Ok maybe you are living up to your name or just a simple misunderstanding. Earlier today I posted a link to a site where you can sign up to receive any issued Amber alerts on your cell phone. You can set it for your particular area. It was free and endorsed by the Department of Justice. No third party can get your number. Completely legit. It get's deleted for spam?!! Come on!!

If your child is missing wouldn't you want every possible person looking out for him or her?

Oh well!! I think this sucks but it's not my board. Someone needs to tell the difference between spam and something that could potentially save a kids life.

I Sent you a nice email explaining why, and offering a solution until i can get an answer, currently the rules say do not spam the boards with other websites, I am working on it, and the Admins can make a ruling. As i indicated, i am making an effort to change this. Also, it is against forum rules to post email exchanges on the forums, however, in this case i will overlook that.

I want people to understand, that moderators do try and help people and make suggestions to the Admins in cases like these. I do support your concerns about amber alert, however, i cannot make administrative decisions or alter the rules.

I hope this clarifies things a bit for you, please bear with me while a decision is made,

Thanks,
Mark

I think this is a serious mistake. While, yes,it seems futile, its hope. One person is all it takes. BRING IT BACK!

this was exactly my thought about the childs last wish this afternoon..
miss repunzels post?...

i guess it makes no difference if it is a dying child's last wish or a missing child on the amber alert...or whatever...

but i just dont understand why this sight accepted to post the banners for other sights here though...isnt this a form of spam itself...

im just asking here..

First of all the adverstisments that you see generate money for the site that is why they are there.

Second the dying childs last wish you speak of was a hoax.

And it clearly states in the rules you can not put advertisments on the threads.

Now if he had contacted the Admin first before doing so and had it clarify for what it was for and let them check it out which is the best way to do it.

Also Mark very clearyl said he was trying to get it approved in order to post it things take time to do so. And e-mail was sent out and even explained that so does it hurt to go through the channels to make sure it is okay. I see nothing wrong with that.

Things must be checked out can't just let everyone put advertisments on the threads.

Txs,

I understand but I posted it and even some people signed up. Instead of checking it out for himself he just went and deleted it. I know what spam is. I am not a fool to post crap on forums knowing full well it can get deleted. THIS WAS MORE LIKE SHOOT FIRST AND ASK QUESTIONS LATER.

I posted the very same thing on another site with the same result {shame on you POF} but on some aviation boards that I am a member of the thread was stickied and posted so they can get as many people involved as possible. Someone metioned it was futile but it was hope, OVER 360 KIDS HAVE BEEN FOUND/SAVED BY THIS PROGRAM.

i see...so it is against the rules and regulations of jsh..to advertise ot to give refferences to any other website or organizations on a personal thread or post...got it..

It is a shame that we lost our amber post in here
because the people that started it- are no longer here.
It was not being posted on and kept up with- so that is why
it was removed. Is there a way to get amber alert its self to
post regularly in here? Or would that be considered spam?
Every little thing we can do in this area helps...

i think that in order for amber alert to POST pictures of missing children here...the creators of jsh would have to contact them first and to ask...but i cant think of a better partner for jsh...a friend making website..with a child finding one..

it does hold many advantages..

not for jsh though..but mainly for the amber alert organization

I understand what your saying. But......... you even said the same thing happen on another site as well.

So would it not be the wise thing to check with the site owners before posting anything on forums. That way no hard feelings are made and you would generate alot more helpful in put then negative. Am I not right?

Hey I'm all for the Amber alerts for in Texas they post them on the big lighted billboards on the freeways. In order to get it out first hand and it will be broadcasted on every radio station as soon as it happens.

So I do understand where your coming from but........... did you not also post without considering if it was for or against site rules.

For we also must deal with the issues as they happen you can't leave stuff on the boards for all to read untill the issue has been solved right?

Was it not explained why it was taken off and he was trying every effort to help you out in the mean time even told you how it could be done till he got the okay?

I thought that was being very fair with the situation.bigsmile

Now tell me if I'm wrong with what I have said.flowerforyou

Ohhhhhhhh just for the record just because the post is deleted off the boards we still have access to them and if Mike says it is okay it can be replaced.bigsmile

i think mark is VERY fair...on a consistent basis.

the thread broke rules...mark gave an option...and promised to discuss the idea with mike. if mike agreed, then the thread could be reposted...

Spam: Flooding the internet (in our case message board) with the same message repeatedly, and/or trying to force a message on people that otherwise don't want it.

Or from the dictionary: 2. (lowercase) a disruptive, esp. commercial message posted on a computer network or sent as e-mail.

Sorry just had to point out that it isn't spam in actuality, but the websites views can be different then what is specified. I understand your doing what you can, and I commend you on your effort. Was just thinking that maybe if you were to clarify the fact that it isn't truly spam, then maybe it could get sorted quicker?

TXS,

The other site made the same mistake that is happening here and I voiced my opinion to the mods.

Yes it was explained but for the wrong reason. I did not feel to ask permission to post something that could save kids lives and not monetary gain. Fear is right it's not spam.

NO RULE WAS BROKEN HERE.

Awww but think of the Possibilities of what could happen if one was only to take a few Necessary steps and all the mistakes it could save in the future.

You know as well as I do if you put a poster of a missing child outside a Grocery Store on the front of there Windows do you not have to ask for permission in order to do so?

Humm so you see what I'm getting at now if you post something on someone elses website you have to consider the rules also now if you owned a site would it not be up to you what was put there and would rather that others at least contact you first and give you the choice of what they would consider.

You may actually find out your more welcome with open arms by contacting the site owners first. It is all out of RESPECT for another.

Very simple steps can be taken in the future in order to make things much easier and for you to get the word out.
