Tears of Fall

The tears of fall plummet to the ground
Somber and solace, a sight so profound

The plant life prepares for cryogenic slumber
The leaves always tumble, in the fall of September

Why am I forced every year, to watch the trees cry?
The cold so sharp, gusting from a dead sky

Their arms reach up, naked, so high
They will never be free until the day they die

Location decided on the day of their birth
Roots dug deep encased in solid earth

Stationary being, bored and lonely
Standing after the tears of fall, naked, and homely
