Topic: 'Where Have All Our Leaders Gone?' | |
---|---|
Where have all our leaders gone? I am going to repeat something I said on another thread.
We do not have any leaders, because the majority of our politicians do not care about the people. All they care about is getting re-elected. In connection with the above, when our forefathers first founded this country, it was with the idea that our nation was to be governed by citizen politicians. Ordinary people were supposed to serve one term in the various public offices and then go home. Today every single one of our elected officials with few exceptions are career politicians who no longer care about "the will of the people." Their only concern is power and self-serving interests. They no longer do the job they were elected for; they think they know better than the people who put them into power. As an example of the above, look at illegal immigration. Neither Republicans nor Democrats want to close our borders. Republicans want the cheap illegal Mexico labor, because they believe it will help the economy. The Democrats want the illegals here, because they do not want to offend the Hispanics since they want their votes. When we elect those who have the above mind-set we are not electing leaders and leaders will not come from the above. Therefore, as long as we keep putting people into power who are part of the establishment/problem, we will never find leaders. |

And, by the way, they've been dead for about 142 years when Lincoln lead us down the path away from what was originally intended. It was FDR, who I love for his role in WWII, who completely took us off the rails and set forth precedent for a ever growing, encompassing government that will eventually have a huge direct role over our lives as we grow more socialist. Obama, Clinton, Edwards, and some of the Republican nominees for President have such planned. I'm starting to wonder if they all aren't in same camp of slowly making us into a nanny state where personal responsibility and true rights are stripped from us, like all over Europe.

Well we now have a conservative nanny state where those who were born with silver spoons in their mouths get their tax breaks. They have a sense of entitlement where they are entitled to everything while the working class are entitled to nothing. They are horrified at the prospect of anyone getting into office who might bring some equity to the tax system. |

Bush State of the Union speech: Just more bull****. http://bushspeech.org/ I can't watch him much anymore since he told us he intended to be a dictator in our democracy. How can a democratic leader tell his constituent " he don't care if they don't like what he does"???? |

Lincoln was a great leader
who kept the Union together through a terrible war that cost many lives. FDR was a great leader as well. The Civilian Conservation Corp and Works Progress Administration kept Americans working during the Great Depression. |

BTW, Abraham Lincoln
was the first Republican President. |

Dragoness..... copied/pasted your post below,

How can a democratic leader tell his constituent " he don't care if they don't like what he does"???? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dragoness...... You are saying that Bush told the American people he intended to be a dictator in our democracy??! No president, either Republican or Democratic, would say such a thing. Prove your statement that Bush said he intended to be a dictator in our democracy or admit you are a liar. When and where did Bush say he intended to be a dictator? What was the occasion? Who was there? What was his speech about? Of course you cannot answer the above because you are out and out lying. |

i think it would be interesting to see what would happen if Ron Paul made it into office. If he really means to do what he says i think it could do good things. The government has been trying to take over too much these days. His ideas would work very well if people took the responsibility to step up. Maybe things would actually get a little more simple for a change. For god's sake our tax code is 48,000 pages long. That big enough to break most desks. Is there really a need for that? Is there really a need for more government control and more bureaucracy?

would work only if people in this country took more responsibility and started thinking more about community and the future than themselves at the present.
