Think of it this way...if you broke up with your girlfriend (or visa versa), would you move out of town? Heck no! You would just go about your business (as should she and everyone else) and move on with life. Unless you’re an eminent threat to society people need to back off and worry about their own issues and hang ups before trying mess with someone else’s destiny.

You mean initiating or carrying it through, outside of an innocent joke, no? I feel you. You've got a point and I think that is the same point that fellow who wrote to me was trying to make. Yes, most of his intent was surely about causing trouble and sour grapes; but there was a hint of truth in what he said. He said if I was his, he'd never stand for me being on dating sites after we became a monogamous couple; and, he wouldn't remain on them, himself, either. I don't know. Was he completely off target?

I have been a regular forumite on another site for the past 4-5 years, but when I met my ex there, I stopped ALL my flirting with other males. 'Course, mild flirting on that site is taken much more seriously. As for the ex, he never flirts publicly and generally preferred to be pursued rather than to pursue. No, he didn't pursue while we were an item, though. He was loyal and monogamous, if nothing else.

I guess it all just confuses me.

No one else should have any say in your decision. There's no rule against it, and it's nobody else's business. If someone has a problem with that, maybe THEY should be the ones who leave....

There are a lot of people exploring relationships but stick around to keep in touch with friends ... I see nothing wrong with that.
