Topic: who belives the smoking ban is wrong? | |

Of course, I think alcohol should be more regulated if not banned as well. But like I said before, CASH is king.

Okay. In my bar that is privately owned. Can I say that black people cannot come in? Can I physically abuse who ever I want?
Can I let my liquer licence expire, and just sell booze to my "friends"? don't be rediculous. i'm speaking of oranges, you bring up the color of the sky. these are privately own establishments that you are free to go to or not. if anything, they should provide equal rights for both, not one over the other. as americans we are free to do what we wish, as long as it doesn't encroach on another's freedoms. if someone doesn't like a smokey bar, they are free to leave. they do not have to be there. the road example was completely rediculous. firstly, a road is a government owned thing. second, it is needed for mass transportation. is it just for the government to tell you what you can and can't do within your own home? people are free to kill themselves if they want, and those nonsmokers in bars are choosing to do the same to themselves by being there. enough of the nanny state |

alright so I dont smoke cigarettes I hate the smell I prefer 2 date a girl that dont smoke and cant stand when people are blowin it in my face!
BUT!!! I do not agree with the law. We used 2have choices as americans,at least thats what old people tell me. land of the free right? |

Wether you like to look at it or not, no you can't do whatever you want in tour private establishment. Thats just the way it has always been. Now smoking in bars is against the law. Its a crime. Just like all the others.

Did you all know that one of the biggest cost to health care is dealing with people with cigarette related illness. And you and I pay for it. People who stammer out stuff like its my right to smoke if I want to, and then when they get sick, the government has to give me free medical because Ionly make so much money.........you see where this is going.

i can agree to banning smoking in publicly used places, but not establishments like bars. a bar is not needed in your life, you go there of your free will to injest toxins anyway. smoking should be banned from grocery stores, and segregated in resturants, but a bar is not like either of those two.
people who smoke their whole lives deserve what they get, how in the world can you trust the tabacco industry? i wish we were more mature about this and people would open smoke free bars to compete with the smoke filled ones |

What would you say if people who smoked their whole life knowing the dangers and risks were denied health care.

If they know going in, it's on them......

I'm not a smoker, so I'm not exactly against the ban of smoking in public places. Like Harrah's here in Joliet, these places could come up with a separate area that is not within the building for those who want to smoke. I would rather smell beer breath than cigarette smoke. I've noticed how much cleaner the air is inside Harrah's when I'm dancing. No more choking on cigarette smoke!

Did you all know that one of the biggest cost to health care is dealing with people with cigarette related illness. And you and I pay for it. People who stammer out stuff like its my right to smoke if I want to, and then when they get sick, the government has to give me free medical because Ionly make so much money.........you see where this is going. Smokers pay larger taxes, therefore logically it is our money going to the healthcare. Also I don't believe that the United States gives out free healthcare. So financially and mathmatically we are only paying for our own healthcare that you claim we will need when we get sick, albeit I haven't been to a hospital in about 6 years...but I'll keep that in mind next time I go because a smokeing related illness. Either way you look at this our rights have been trampled on time and time again from local government all the way up to the president. We are no longer truly free, we vote, we speak, we're shut out by the already established pro-this and anti-this groups that shovel millions in donations to the canidates thus putting them on a higher pedestal towering over the basic population. We're a money run country that is in debt, what do you expect? |

government should not be daddy
these laws a insurance company lobby issues if they slow down smoking issues insurance payouts go down (can we say seat belt law) govt impositions of freedoms are going to increase as long as the people continue to not voice their opinions to washington if you do not vote then you should not complain no one worth voting for then wrie in your name if everyone wrote in some one (anyone) then they would get the idea if you do not vote you are saying i am cool with the way thaings are going so if ya do not like the way the govt is then change it or quit yer whining |

This country is becoming bull****. It's all about the money. Whether we smoke or not, we're losing all kinds of rights that we probably don't even know about yet. I saw a program on MSNBC a few days before christmas about something the gov is trying to pursue. They'll be able to track how you're spending money, WHERE you're spending it, your cell numbers, phone records, what you do on a daily basis. I'm out to oust this country and get the helllll out. I love this country but damn, something has got to give.
