Topic: Original sin... explained...

Genuine questions here folks...

What was the original sin?

Why was it necessary to tempt Adam and Eve?

Were they not perfect up until then?

If God is omniscient, then he would have already known what their choice would be.

So then, he wanted sinful humans... or... he is not perfect in his creation?

If he had wanted for humans to remain perfect why did he not allow them to remain so?...

Nobody is perfect, not even God Himself. Sorry to burst your bubble, but we all do things we wish we hadn't.

Rom. 5:12, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned"

Original sin is the Sin we are all born with because of Adam and Eve disobeying God.

They had to be given a choice because God wanted man to have free will.

Yes he would have known, he would also had known Lucifer would eventually become the devil. I have asked myself these questions but again I guess it has to do with Choice and free will.

He wanted humans to be able to choose to follow him or not.

BLAM! <=== SHOTGUN BLAST!

Um...do you want me to answer all of them? So you are okay with a 10,000+ word post? Sorry, I'm not up to it tonight. I might add something here or there, but you have just asked a large number of very deep questions, many of which have complex answers. They all have answers, but they aren't really suited for this sort of forum.

If you need to find all those answers, you will find a great resource here: http://www.str.org/site/PageServer

If these questions were asked only to attack Christians for their answers, then I hope nobody will respond to your thread.

God also gave us free will. And without the tempting...or the "failing" of the test we wouldn't be here.

Whoa, what have I missed now? Creative attack? Why do I get the feeling a huge boulder sized misunderstanding has been brewing and is finally rollin through the threads? Just an observation. Carry on gentleMEN. (damn caps lock stuck.........)

spider:

You post Blam!! shotgun blast!! And then ask if I am intending on attacking someone for their answers...

Allow me to point something out to you... about me...

I have never since 1st grade intentionally started a fight with someone...

But...

I will not allow another to remove my option to speak or avoid an issue...

should one do that...

continually...

enough to get a negative and angered response from me...

they have indeed deserved what they get...

Now then...

Simple logic requires simple form...

They are simple questions... which should have simple answers, I would guess...

to start with if u r going to argue original sin from adan and eve u r losing time
the original sin is just the natural tendency of Man to stay away from God

I'm a Christian. You are not. I told you the answers are long and complex and you say they aren't (that's implying that I'm lying). Believe what you will, but you can easily go to the resource I posted and get your answers.

Miguel, how does one know when to read the text literally or figuratively?

This is perplexing, because it creates much confusion.

spider:

You have came to the conclusion that I am saying you are lying?

Allow me to point something else out.

To lie is to knowingly state something as truth when one knows it is not.

I have not thought that of you,,, let alone imply it.

Just because you and the site you have posted believe the answer should be a long one, and I believe it should not, does not make anyone a liar.

OK creative. lets take a hypothetical here. Lets say you do believe in God. How do you expect to know what he was thinking when he created the cosmos. No one claims to know the true answer to these questions and thats why there is no simple answer.

To the question brought up in the OP.

The Bible once again contradicts itself in this very early stage.

It claims that man is inherently sinful yet the authors of this book felt compelled to invent a evil devil to temp mankind into sin.

Well, there’s a blatant contradiction right there!

If mankind was so inherently sinful then why couldn't he have just fallen to sin himself? Why would it have been necessary to create an evil demon first????

This is a huge error that humans made when they invented this story. A perfect God would have known better.

Genuine questions here folks...

Okay, I'll play along.

What was the original sin?

The first sin. Adam's disobedience to God.

Why was it necessary to tempt Adam and Eve?

It wasn't.

Were they not perfect up until then?

Yes.

If God is omniscient, then he would have already known what their choice would be.

He did.

So then, he wanted sinful humans... or... he is not perfect in his creation?

No. What?

If he had wanted for humans to remain perfect why did he not allow them to remain so?...

Love.

There, there are your simple answers. But the problem is, you don't understand all the details of those answers. You didn't want long answer, which would have included the details to actually make the short answer make sense. All I can suggest is that you go to that site.

Actually the bible never says the devil tempted man. It is only mentioned as a serpent. People interpret it as the devil but the bible makes no such claim.

Ok spider:

If they were perfect up until the disobedience why were they not still perfect afterwards?

Perfect is without flaw.

Perfect does not ever become anything less than perfect.

It cannot or it would have never been perfect to begin with.

Perfect is without mistake.

Perfect makes no mistake.

Are you sure they were perfect?

No like everything perfect is relative. Maybe they consider obedience as part of perfection. So once they disobeyed for the first time they were no longer perfect.

If they had been perfect they would have never disobeyed.

There is no way around that logic.

They were never perfect, as described in the Bible.

perfect = flawless

A flawless creature has no flaws...

unless of course... God had intended for it to happen...

That opens a huge can of worms.
