I stand corrected.. ONE year after WW1.. ma bad.. I'm not an avid war connoisseur so I did some research..

the city was bombed by German heavy Gotha bombers and by zeppelins.. so it must've looked pretty devastating.. plus the Parisians suffered epidemics of typhoid and measles with a deadly outbreak of Spanish influenza during the winter of 1918-19 that killed thousands of Parisians...

this was Paris.. and money or no.. I wouldn't go.. noway but, that's just me.. guess Slim it'd be BYOP if you DID go back in time along with a few other shots just to stay alive.. scared and I'm not talking "shots of tequila" either whoa

If I could change where I live at present , it would be Sweden.....I was informed last night that the gals dont wear panties on a regular basis .....Hmmmmm!!!

And if I could turn back time, then I would turn it back to Paris in the 1920s....and party on with all the great writers and Jazz musicians of that time ...

don't tell me there's no flights outta TO to Sweden..?? it may not be that easy for you to change where you live.. but you can always visit bigsmile ..

wow.. 1920 is only 2 yrs after WW1.. they might've had good writers'n musicians but not a time I'd wanna visit.. this is your "dream" tho.. enjoy drinker

plenty of flights to Sweden ....but costs money and takes time ....I have neither....
So will just have to dream of hitting some jackpot at the ole Casino ....and I will be like a bat outta hell to Sweden.....

Actually the Versailles treaty ending WWI was signed in June of 1919.

And I also think that Paris right after the war to end all wars would have been a wonderful place to be if you had some money, not only for the writers, artists, musicians, and poets, but also the night life. Up until June of 1940 anyway.

One bad point though, no penicillin if your enjoyment of the night life happened to be a little indiscreet.

I was actually alluding to the time Hemmingway decided to move to Paris ...1922....he was still a Toronto Star writer at the time , if my memory is still all there. So then the place would have been cleaned up and the hotels and cafes were operational...and yes, the night life was , well not so discreet ha ha...

well perhaps if ya didn't gamble all yer cash away.. you'd have enough for a flight.. weren't you going to TX for a week this month? I assume that's cancelled cuz of the insane heat they got but why not use THAT money instead?

no time? aren't you retired?

OT: I'd not have taken on that new family dr slaphead she's never available and kind of unprofessional

Well Texas got cancelled on the advice of your BFF,as the temps were way to high for my delicate skin to handle....Then I realized winter will be here soon ....so I had to change my slick tyres to brand new all season one for better grip....didnt expect 4 new rubber to cost that much....way over what I spent 10 years ago ha ha... And about the retirement , I had to go back part time on a pretty good offer...which ends up supporting me and my gambling lifestyle.....yipee...
so there you are up to date.....

OT::: Now if I had to go back in time again ...I think I would have stayed in Paris for a few more years , till 1928 at least and moved on to Sweden.....and lived happily ever after ....

she did have a point.. 3 digit temps in "F" IS pretty hot.. so good call to veto that..

OMG I got new winter tires last fall myself to the tune of $700 noway which is agreeably insane to pay for 4 rubbers LOL I think I paid about $300 9 yrs ago.. (we're not allowed all seasons in QC any more.. has to be winter & summer only.. like they're gonna check whoa)

lucky you to get an offer worthy of getting you back into the workforce.. I've been looking but nothing's really out there for an 'older' person with way too much experience to accept $17 CDN/hr.. whoa

OT: I'd never have given up my amazing career I loved for a controlling ex husband slaphead

no.. not a career in politics.. I was in retail.. VP.. 132 locations and over 1000 employees.. I loved that job.. but.. the ex was a real smooth talker and the 'control' happened slowly.. by surprise.. until I was broken.. not anymore tho.. bigsmile

OT: I'd find a new mechanic to put my trust in..

good luck with that.
the newer cars are good only for the fact, you can find out for yourself, using tools that plug in to your cars on board computer, whats wrong . Then tell them what to fix ....most times ..

A career as a VP.....good for you ! Was that in Sears..??

Turn the clock back 50 years .....and I could have married my dream girl....but she was the classic gold digger, she even ditched "gold" for some other guy...karma is a ....

nope.. not sears pffft.. I was in furniture retail.. bedrooms, livingrooms, kitchens & appliances.. all high end/boutique.. I had a blast.. ex couldn't stand that.. plus I'd even sleep in my showrooms if I was at an out of town location.. the beds were comfier than the hotel rooms LOL.. I was also the interior designer and traveled across North America to 'shows' as a buyer..

OT: I would not have let certain people push me around

It is the last day of Summer today here in the UK. Autumn begins, a nice time of year as the colours of Autumn arrive as the leaves turn to many different shades of brown and green as it becomes cooler, and the days become shorter. Maybe think about turning back time to Spring again, but on second thoughts perhaps not, because it will soon be Christmas. smile2
