just want your thoughts on ppl that say they are christians then drink, smoke or do drugs. the bible says that our bodies are temples for the holy spirit. does it make a poor witness when a christian gets drunk, smokes, or gets high? just wondering. thanks.

well if your going to look at it like that then piercings tatoo's and all that would make you a poor witness also

I feel that religion is becoming obsolete, and although people will not admit that they no longer believe, deep down inside they realize that they don't and thus do things that they otherwise would not.

I can't respect anyone who doesn't practice what they preach. This just poses that question what does that line really mean... "The body is a temple for the holy spirit"?? I'm sure it had many different meanings from person to person....

all i know is the bible says we are able to drink but not to be drunk. and i have been taught not to judge people on how christian someone is for it is not a person's job it is God's. we all make mistakes, and thankfully the Lord forgives. eventually the people who do a lot of these things will see their mistakes. we just really need to focus on our relationship with the Lord than how bad we think someone is acting.

i was just curious b/c i recently quit smoking and ppl would look down on me when i was smoking b/c im a christian. i think it hurt my witness. i dont get high nor do i drink a lot. of course a social glass of wine will give me a buzz b/c i have no tolerance. lol

I used to go to a Christian church when I was much younger. Most of the people I got to know there WERE Christians -- and acted as such -- when it was convenient.

The pastor of that church was making an effort to buy as many homes on the block as he could, on the street where the church was, because he wanted to make sure no black people moved there. And I thought "He doesn't want black people to live by his church and be Christians?"

Kind of a rude awakening for a sheltered spolied kid from the "right side" of the tracks....
