Hey everyone,

After just reading a thread about "giving out telephone numbers", it sparked my 3 active brain cells to make this VERY IMPORTANT POST!

If you have a HOME telephone number, check to see if it is listed on Google!!!!

All you have to do is go to Google.com and in the search bar just type in your home number (ie: 760-555-1212) In MANY cases it pulls up ALL of YOUR information INCLUDING a MAP to where you live!!!

So be EXTREMELY CAREFUL! If your number is on there, you can click in the link and request that information be removed!

This is NOT a PRANK! It's REAL...so BE CAREFUL!

Hope this can help some people! bigsmile flowerforyou

Your number will only be listed on Google if it is in your local phone book.

Yeah ... I know this happens. I am struggling with that situation right now. I have been talking to someone and I really want to call but I am so afraid to have my number get out. I do not have a cell phone so it would have to be my house phone.

My friend just told me to use *67 and it will come up unavailable. I should try calling someone and ask if it comes up unavailable.

. sorry removed the post. www.donotcall.gov may help but only for commercial calls. not private stalker-types. and contrary to belief. the gov't has made it so it will not expire. been on it from the beginning. work lines, home, and cell. no calls. prior to that some online gambling site was calling me at work- i do not gamble at all so it was weird.

what listing are you talking about? in the phone book or on google? google is just posting the information in the phone book. i think your talking about paid advertisements on google and their premium web listing which isn't what he's talking about.

I tried it too.
It gave my legal name and the town I live in, nothing more.
Most people who know me well enough already know that anyway.

That's why I try to tell people that they have to be very careful how they represent themselves in these forums. Anyone can see it just by typing in your user name. Some people would be ashamed of themselves if their young kids read half of this stuff or worse yet class mates.jmo
