no, that wont change anything , his boss knows the game as well as I do,

tell your friend to say he found a better paying job, milk the company for a few extra bucks before the axe falls.

You let things be. One thing have learned in life is that things happen for a reason. No matter how much you try to prevent them, you cannot play God to someone you love. They must go through whatever hardship they must endure for a reason and the outcome is always better. Unless of course it is their death, but even by which is inevitable. Anyways, just know that it has to happen as possibly a learning tool, or the fact that something better for them may come a long. That is life.

What I am trying to say is that you trying to help may cause more harm. Though you saved someone from smashing their thumb, they later got hit by a car, because you prevented that smashing of the thumb which could have led to winning the lottery or something. Do you get what I am getting at? Just let it happen.

Wow. This is a hard one to figure out. If the manager "friend" knows that this other person is also your friend, then it seems almost as if he might be testing your friendship, which doesn't seem to make him much of a friend, but, then again, you are there and know these people and we don't. Did the manager friend relay this information in confidential terms? It is very unprofessional to say the least and it would be hard for me to respect someone who would string someone along like that through a grueling schedule knowing they are going to dump them.

I imagine I would let the friend know he is going to be fired, since I agree with what one person said earlier that it would be hard to live with later if you didn't say something.

All in all, I guess you have to put yourself in both of their places. If you were the manager "friend" would you have told this to someone else? If you were the other friend would you want to know and how would you feel if you knew your friend knew but didn't tell you?

Its not prevention, its information.the firing is coming but you should at the very least tell the one getting fired so he can make an informed decision. If that manager was any kind of a friend he would tell him himself instead of unloading his guilt on another.
i know if i wasn't told and busted my ass only to be fired ,we'd all make the front page of the local paper.explode

Someone else mentioned 'test', which is what popped into my head. Like he is testing your loyalty to the company and would you tell or not. Which is a terrible and totally unprofessional thing to do. But people can do stupid things. It seems to be the nature of people.

i wouldn't tell my friend...i might, however, put a foot in their ass to get them to perform better.

at the end of the season, there might just be a reprieve.

i LIKE it when my bosses confide in me...keeps me in a decent position.

This is not a seasonal job..this is professionals..accountants in fact..and to clarify - the manager is not MY boss; he works in another department.

i would dismiss my manager for disclosing imformation before hand..for sure............maybe you and your friend should go over the managements head and explain to the upper that this is like job tormentation.....who's next ?.......these are very valid issues.

cheers !drinker
