Topic: Women & the Shoe & Handbag Myth | |
---|---|
Men seem to think that women love shoes, have tons of them, and are crazy about handbags/purses.
I wonder for how many women this is the case? For me... I need to put my own podiatrist inlays in shoes and even though more and more shoes & boots have a removable inlay, the shoe last often still makes it impossible to wear the shoes/boots with your own inlays. Plus, non-leather shoes & boots have a very hard heal piece (contrefort) that doesn't stretch or soften over time. Meaning non-leather shoes cause me a lot of grief and blisters. As such I thoroughly dislike buying shoes & boots. Handbags... a necessary evil. Depending on where I go I need to put my phone, sunglasses, tobacco somewhere and sticking it all in my coat is either not possible or uncomfortable. But if I can leave my purse home I definitely will! So shoes/boots & handbags/purses aren't high on my list of 'wanna haves'. I've been walking on trainers for over a decade because I can't find anything else while I LOVE boots! Especially the outdoors / country boots. Just now returned the 2nd pair I'd ordered. Totally gorgeous, totally uncomfortable. And I ordered another pair, 3rd attempt. Fingers crossed! But the myth that women love shoes and handbags... definitely not me! |

Well Crys, for me the myth is real ![]() Hi Sparky Imelda, haha. I must admit I used to do that in the past too. But at that time it was easier for me to buy shoes, no inlays needed then. I did the same thing, matching shoes, bags, earrings, necklace, belt etc. But since approx. 32 yrs old I did need the inlays. Back then they were thinner so it wasn't often an issue. I intent to ask my podiatrist if he can do that too as it would make life and buying shoes a helluva lot easier. Still, I've changed over the years and can't really be bothered so much with it all anymore. I'm really an Artemis type: casual, natural, yet feminine, but not too much hassle. |

SparklingCrystal, I, too, am an Artemis type. LOVE working with Artemis.
As far as shoes/bags, I think the most Ive owned over the last 20+ years might be 6? 3 bags/purses. 3 pairs of shoes. I would give my significant other my credit card and driver's license to carry. Id have the chap stick and phone. Currently have more bags/totes than shoes. If I have to mess with something staying on my shoulder, I cant be bothered. Sparky! I dont own a belt. May I have a few of yours? <gigglesnorting> |

Yay! I was typecast as one who believes this myth.
![]() I for one, know better than to stereotype "ALL". Some women love, and obsess over shoes and handbags. Some women, couldn't care less. |

Artemis is wonderful energy, isn't it :) I also have more than one handbag but generally only use one until it comes apart at the seams, hihi. Last year I asked a new one for my b-day as the old one looked horrible. I wanted one of these: ![]() Mine is not exactly like this, has 2 smaller 'pockets' with glasps on the front, but that style. Also very basic, natural, Artemis :) I usually 'wear' a handbag diagonally so it doesn't slip of my shoulder all the time. |
