I always read your name as sono - frangi.
Always reminded me of sound for some reason, and the flower frangipanis.

I've been thinking about that more often, that because I'm not a native speaker I likely read names differently.
There was a user that I read as "I am a fish", haha. And a few others that I misread for yonks that I won't mention as it'll be clear whom I'm talking about. Some totally hilarious, hihi.

But sometimes takes me months to suddenly see, "Shoot, he/she actually calls her/himself XYZ!"

I've often wondered if this would be the same for native speakers.

i am half Irish ....1/4 Scots and 1/4 Maori (native kiwi)...english is the primary language in New Zealand and Maori is the native tongue....which some Kiwi's are now learning very fluently....there are a few of course..as in most countries that flat out refuse to even bother to learn but this is purely their choice...tis not a matter of 'you must obey and learn' lol....if you wanna do it, do it...if you don't, then don't...simple

Not sure, but that's what I tend to think.
I don't think I'd misread contractions of a name or word in my own language that easily while in English it does happen, in spite of being near native speaker. Seems certain things don't register regardless of that fact?

Poetrywriter started being my screen name years ago on the computer simply because I like to write. When I was in high school my favorite subject was English and the teacher loved the stories I would make up on the spot. I still make up goofy stuff but after high school I found I loved poetry, reading and writing and that love resulted in being published in a poetry book. I used to post in the poetry forum but do not anymore due to personal reasons so I just put some of my writing in my profile. I write what I feel and I feel what I write.

When you started this thread I loved the topic and thought it was a really cool way to get to know others a little more. But then every time I thought about posting, I froze up and decided not to, lol. My username has a little silliness, along with spiritual significance to it, and I suppose I was a little shy to share it. That and I'm not sure how to condense it to a short version of the story. I tend to be long winded when I write, lol

But, as promised in another thread, I'm here to share.

Riverspirit was my username in a women's forum quite a few years ago. I came up with the concept of it when watching the Disney movie "Pocahontas". Pocahontas had a free spirit and was adventurous. There was a scene when she was going down the river and came to a fork where she had to decide which path to follow. One that was smooth and predictable, or the other where there were twists and turns, going around the river bend. She chose to go around the river bend and discover where it would take her.

To me that represented, in real life, embracing the unknown and going with the flow. Letting the spirit of the river guide you. A river is powerful, it forges on and no matter what obstacles are in it's path, it manages to overcome them and carry on, or find a new direction to flow and carry on it's existence. I felt connected to that concept and have always been drawn to rivers... Hence Riverspirt which means the spirit of a river.

I created Riverspirit1111 on Mingle before they started allowing duplicate usernames. The system wouldn't let me use just Riverspirit, so I added 1111 to it in order to keep Riverspirit.

I chose 1111 because of what they represent as far as messages from the Angels. Angel numbers 1111 are all about manifestation. It's a daily reminder for me to pay attention to my thoughts, because our thoughts are what create our realities. It's also a reminder to me that I am a co-creator of my own life, so no matter what debris shows up in my river flow of life, I have the power/spirit from within to forge forward and manifest my own reality/experiences.

So that's how Riverspirit1111 came to be.
