We had one of those when I was growing up, too! It started about 6 months after my parents got it. The picture would just close up. They'd get it fixed and then it would start again. It was fine if you left it "warm up" for about 2 hours!

Who remembers watching the Jetsons and thinking "wow wouldnt it be great to have that visaphone, or to be able to fly your own car to work..." lol
We have pretty much everything off of the jetsons now, and they are working on a prototype now of a small 2 or 4 passanger aircraft meant to act as a taxi service. |

When I first started working, the computer they had took up a whole room, and the disks were huge, probably 12 to 14" in diameter. |

This thread has brought back so many memories
I have two that some of you might remember Would go visit my grandfather and uncles up in the mountain area, and have to use the outhouse. Also when no one was looking we would pick up the phone, and listen because they still had party lines there. Another memory was when on the way home from the mountains we found a family broke down, it was right after Christmas, so Mom and Dad loaded their family of six into the station wagon with our family of five. Dad dropped us off home, and then continued to Pittsburgh to take them home. |
