The non Taliban people are screwed. That's most Afghans. Brief history: Taliban was created during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan by the CIA, Saudi Arabia and the Pakistan Army to fight off the Soviets. Osama bin Laden of the Laden family in Saudi Arabia was then the CIA hand to support with his tiny Arab mercenaries, to recruit Talibs, students from the orthodox mosques in the provinces and consolidate them to form the Taliban. So it's a little like the Russian Revolution. The army from the provinces taking over the cities. Except that the civilians in the provinces, the farmers, etc. are themselves under the guns of Taliban. |

As of today, as a freedom loving citizen myself, I'll be happy to see the Afghanistan people deciding there own future. Not any pseudo freedom giver. The location of Afghanistan is geo-strategically so important that the big brothers find it hard to refuse the temptation!

Troops should have been pulled out of Afghanistan long ago.
Taliban will continue to destroy people. There mission is evil. |

Alexander got his Azz handed to him in Afghanistan. So did the British. Then the Russians. And now the Americans. Let the Afghans figure their own way of government.

When this thread started, 2000 troops were in Afghanistan expected to leave by Sept. 2021, as per Biden giving time for talks between Taliban and Afghan government. Today, 7 July, 2021 - US troops in Afghanistan, around 100 Talks started in Tehran today --- 7/7/21 We may suppose that Iran Sanction is now lifted |

Taliban leader speaks to a news channel in Doha, in English https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXcy7FPN2T8 sounded reasonable to me. |

How to wage war?
Rule 2: Don't declare, surprise the enemy. How to retreat? Rule 1: Like giving out a post dated cheque and rushing to the bank to cash / clear your account immediately; then vamoose. US troops have left Afghanistan, yes, completely https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMke2bP9Cn4 Status: Afghan government troops defending the cities. Taliban controls surrounding provinces. It's now a waiting game. |

It is not the fault of the U.S. or any other country for the collapse of Afghanistan to the taliban. They've had support, financially, equipment, and training for 20 years. if they can't establish some form of national defense in 20 years then the failure is on them, not us. blame your own government for sitting on their hands and letting the rest of the world fight their wars for them. one question tho: who in the Afghanistan government pockets the trillions of dollars they were given?

Strategic momentum appears to be with the Taliban," General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters. Milley said more than 200 of the 419 district centers were under Taliban control. Last month, he had said the Taliban controlled 81 district centers in Afghanistan. It is not the fault of the U.S. or any other country for the collapse of Afghanistan to the taliban. They've had support, financially, equipment, and training for 20 years...
---- ---- As per Gen. odds for 2 months to Kabul is 10 to 1 Likely a negotiated truce / take over.., say 4 months at 10 to 1 |

That is the truth Booby.... for good or bad, it seems something in this universe would keep the area untouched by modern progress

Bare facts: CIA / Pak Army trained Taliban for 10 years to resist Russian occupation. Trillions sent to Pak Army to reinforce Taliban After 9/11 CNN report / interview of Osama bin Laden was reason enough for Bush to send troops to Afghan. Note: Osama had nothing to do with 9/11 - he had just laughed at being called the iconic figure for the 'might of Islamic whatever'; and for same reason, Pak Army could not oblige handing over ObL ....... Obama paid out another 9 billion to P army after Osama was killed. ----- ----- On a positive note, Geo survey found substantial quantities of Lithium in the mountains – potential export China’s rail/roadie link to Europe runs thro’ Afghanistan New UN chief is a Muslim from Turkey, pro Pak and pro Talib; likely to channel UN funds to Afghan |

With Kabul in sight Taliban are asking maulvis to prepare list of girls and widows aged 12 to 45 so that they can be negotiated to marriage. |

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here but didn't Russia give up there war in Afghanistan many moons ago when they realized they couldn't win in those mountains. I guess the U.S.A. finally learned from the Soviets.

And, Afghanistin fell to the taliban.
Game over. |
|
|
|
Yes, but they just won't stop if they are not confronted strongly
|
|
|
