Marriage legalizes a Romantic relationship ...and it becomes a one on one experience ...... if that's what you really want !!

Marriage is between families, whereas a relationship is between two people.

A relationship is the bond any two people have together.
There are many different types of relationships in life.
At dating sites like this, 'relationship' often means romantic pair bonding.

Marriage, in most instances, is a romantic relationship in which the two people place each other and their relationship above all other relationships.
They usually take vows (make promises) as to their intent for how they will conduct themselves in their marriage.

In a 'dating' type relationship, the relationship is subject to dissolution at any time. In marriage, the dissolution process is more complicated because of those 'promises'. It requires legally binding documents to make it official.

Many people in romantic relationships conduct themselves as if they were married. When this happens, there is no official entity established representing the bond. No official dissolution documents are required to end the relationship. Promises can be made to each other but only personal integrity keeps them. There is no outside entity which holds them to their word.

Things change when children are involved. The courts are sometimes involved concerning legal issues having to do with the child's best interest and safety. There are instances where no such court action is needed.

Some would say there is no difference, only a piece of paper which says you're married to each other. Whether you marry or not is a personal choice and one you both make in my opinion.
