Angel of the Moonlight

There she sat in moonlight
An angel of the mists
Held so close in darkness
Her heart she felt unkissed.
Bathing in the starlight
With tear adorning cheeks
She sat alone in silence
And thought a prayer of peace.
A lover she was waiting
He hasn't come along
It never really mattered
If he was really strong.
She'd know if she should see him
She'd know his heart so well
If only that he'd come along
Her loving heart would swell.
She envisioned dancing
Among the stars so high
And almost felt him touch her
As if to draw her nigh.
So there she sits in moonlight
With tear adorning cheeks
Waiting for her lover
With a heart so mild and meek.
