Bacon

especially on pizzalove

Bacon on pizza??? You kidding???

It's actually really good Crystal. I turned my nose up to it at first but then tried it... Yummy!

I'll take your word for it, but what else do you then put on it, apart from the obvious which is cheese and tomato sauce? Just bacon?

No, it's a meat lovers pizza... pepperoni, sausage, bacon, ham, and usually ground beef or whatever else kind of meat you want. It works with veggies too like onions, mushrooms, and green peppers.

I consider myself to be a meat-eater but what you come up with... all that on 1 pizza? Holy cow! Sausage on pizza? Or minced meat... I don't think I'm cut out for American food, hihi.

Well, it depends of course, there's various choices. One of the simplest is the pizza Margherita: tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil.

But some stuff to choose from:
Salami, artichokes, paprika (bell pepper), several cheese varieties on the quattro formagio, olives, mushrooms, a variety of ham is possible, onion, olive oil, Italian herbs (basil, oregano, etc), capers.
Tomato sauce is normal of course, as is mozzarella.

And pizza frutti di mare has tomato, mozzarella, and of course all kinds of "fruit of the sea".
I accidentally ended up with one of those last year. It was totally odd... Salmon, cod, mussels and whatnot... it tasted good, but I found it weird, hihi.

I think there's much difference in the dough that's used and how it's baked. The best are the thinner somewhat crunchy pizza bottoms from a stone oven, called 'stone oven pizza'. Pizzerias also have special ovens, right.
American pizzas (at least the ones you buy over here) have a thicker softer and more airy bottom. I never buy those.
And of course when in Italy the dough will be different yet again, like you cannot have a better croissant or baguette than in France. And a doughnut in the USA.

It all sounds yummy except the olives and mussels, I can't stand either, hihi.

I like the rising crust one, it's more of a medium crust, not too thin, not too thick. I don't care for the really thick crusts, but the thin ones are okay. And we do have a lot of variety kinds of pizzas like you mentioned, it's just trying to get a neanderthal to eat anything other than a meat lovers is like pulling teeth from a new born, hahahahaha! I buy myself veggie ones or other ones every now and then. :)

OT... What Girth said... and it goes both ways. smile2 winking

I don't eat olives either ill Or capers.
Mussels I love, but not so much on a pizza.
And yeah, if someone is a fussy eater in a way... hihi, or as you call it, a Neanderthal...
I'm not into vegetarian myself. A few days without meat -even if I had fish or chicken- and I feel like chasing down a cow in a field and just start chewing on it laugh
I do need meat. I turn Neanderthal too without meat, hihi. My body simply needs it.
