As far as I know there are a lot of people in India that would love to have an American spouse so they can get a green card. So I'm guesstimating it is possible, and you probably even have choice.

Green card is not everything ma'am, remember India is a growing economy compared to US a flat economy, I can make better money in India then having a green card and working like a dog for a merely cheap and understandard lifestyle

Dear Joe sir, India is very diverse in nature. Hence its possible if you have a clear cut reason for choosing an Indian woman. A tip : Choose the one who resided in India for minimal time. 40+ native Indian women most probably cant change their patterns afresh. That means get an Indian visa.
