I received an email from a member at my real email address. Is that part of the service? I don't remember that. I also am pretty darn sure I've not handed out my email to anyone. What's up?

Well, that's strange. I just sent her an email and asked how she got my email address. I have her real name (from the email) but not her username. I've sent a lot of messages so I have no idea which one it might be.

Thank you for the quick answer!
Mac

No, she even mentioned Mingle in the email. I emailed her asking about it but she hasn't responded.

As Di said, M2 never divulges private information which includes
email addresses. Most times we get the query it turns out the
OP gave the member their email address.

Let us know what she says about where she got it ;-)

I advise you to keep your cookies cleared and your history cleared (browser cache).
There is what is known as tracking software which allows a party to see the places you frequent.
They then fish you with an email mentioning a frequent site.
When you respond, yer hooked.

What you describe has happened to me with a different dating site.
Luckily I use throwaway email addresses and never respond to unsolicited emails.
But, my spyware scanner picked it up as a tracking attempt.
Never register with your primary email address.

Always use protection (firewall, spyware scanner/blockers, ad prevention, popup blockers and virus protection) but more importantly, use some rational sensibility.

if you have ever been on other dating sites which have disappeared, your profile and other info can be sold...that happened to me...but my email site allows blocking and so far, I have blocked any messages from eleven dating sites I never heard of let alone registered with....btw: i never responded to any messages from those sites because it was a phishing expedition and i did not take the bait...

Actually it's a guy. I'm bi so that's no problem but I don't think I ever looked at the men's side here on Mingle2. He answered with shock that I replied but hasn't answered my question as to how he got my email.
