Topic: 5 minute challenge | |
---|---|
Just 5 minutes every hour, get off that couch, pause the binge watching, stop the chores, and move!
Take a walk a around the block, touch your toes, jumping jacks, dance, do stretches, just take 5 minutes and move. 5 minutes for 12 hours=1 hour of exercise Too much? Start with 5 minutes for 6 hours= 1/2 hour of exercise With more and more of us being forced to stay at home we need new ways to stay active and break up our days. 5 minutes out of a hour.... that's all. Come on and accept the challenge... tell us your goals, what works for you! 5 minutes out of a hour... you can do it! |

A good plan! For me nothing much has changed in that sense, but I am building up my daily walk again. I did the normal length yesterday, was still a tad too much, but I am moving again.
I also try to move more indoors in between things. |

not much has changed for me either... I've been on stay at home for over a year now. And even as busy as I stay, I too forget to move at times.
So I start the 5 minute challenge again. It makes me feel better physically, emotionally and mentally. Great job on the walking, especially with your back And the moving around indoors in between things is exactly what I'm wanting to remind people to do |

I need to keep my hands busy.
Or, I'll probably just end up masturbating 50 or 60 times a day. |

I need to keep my hands busy. Or, I'll probably just end up masturbating 50 or 60 times a day. Which means you're really really good at it..... Or really bad at it sorry... the made me do it! So even for that activity you can switch it up... try standing in the shower, sitting or laying down And don't forget to switch hands |

I need to keep my hands busy. Or, I'll probably just end up masturbating 50 or 60 times a day. I think you're eligible to develop carpal tunnel syndrome! Best be careful, you can't visit a physio or doctor easily right now! I'd be worried about the poor thing as well. |

I already do exercises while sitting at my computer. And no Kit it isn't the exercises my fingers get typing on the keyboard. While sitting on my chair and keeping my lower body from the waist down fixed I will twist my upper body as far as I can to the left and hold it for 10 seconds, then twist to the right and hold for 10 seconds. I will do that 3 reps. My lower back bothers me sometimes and this exercise really helps. It was a suggestion from my Chiropractor.

Doing this a few times a week is great to stay in shape, feel good and happy.
Only takes 15 mins, incorporates all muscles and is declared cardio fitness by the US heart organisation. Doesn't require you to go out, so you can do it whether it rains, snows, or in times of a pandemic :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3q5e1pV4pc |

You don't need fancy equipment or tons of room to get moving. Your video is a perfect example.... thanks for sharing with us |

Poetry that is a great stretch for lower back and a great example for people to do sitting. Do you ever do them in a standing position?

My work hours get chopped in half next week, so I'm in. Great idea KitKat Woohoo we'll get all fit and skinny When I worked front desk, being on my feet standing for 8 hours made things hurt. During slow times I started doing calf and hamstring stretches, a few back stretches like poetry mentioned and did push ups using the counter, they really helped. |

But I stick to the 1 mile walk as the others tend to go faster and faster and with the faster ones I cannot check position of my back, legs, etc. anymore. I have to constantly do that (hypermobility). I've done it for months on end, 2-3 times a week, and you do get body toning and better condition. Of late I got lazy, hihi. |

She does have other videos, also with a Dynaband. I've done that too (easier ones, and I got a Light Dynaband for my body). I would of course have to start doing it again, hihi. |

It's easy to get complacent, weather, life, aches and pains, we all do it.
But that video is great, walking is my all time favourite thing to do and it's just 15 minute in the privacy of your home. And people any exercise can be modified to fit you... you find it too much??? Try doing just the steps without the arm movements, take smaller steps or just do part until you feel like you can do more. You have problems standing? Sit on a chair, move your feet and do the arm movements. Want more add weights. Don't have weights use water bottles filled with water... you can also fill them with sand, rice, beans for a little heavier weight. |
