I'm confused. Yokoke, it may not be my business, and it may not relate to the issue at hand, but I'm curious if you consider someone repeatedly looking at your profile to be 'stalking behavior'.

What legally constitutes stalking behavior on the net?

When someone goes to your profile repeatedly who is not on your friend's list, yes I see that as harassment behavior or stalking and a form of methodical, deliberate, and persistent surveillance to see if one is online. Add some other indicators thrown in too... red flags go up.

This may be seen a joke to you, or something imagined, but I see it as something serious. While the profile is public and yes I can see where one might visit once, but when a person visits repeatedly, their motivation and behaviors should perhaps be taken into consideration and questioned.

There are many misperceptions that because it's online through a forum, dating site, emails, cyber space that it is innocent and means nothing and that it has no way of escalating into something more.....is farther from the truth.

I was looking for an alternative and thanks to those who take this issue serious and gave me the answer I needed...flowerforyou

Yokoke, thanks for explaining. I agree with you regarding "red flags" going up, but I just don't see how any reasonable person could consider "repeated viewing of a public profile" -all by itself- as a form of harassment. I'm assuming more is involved in your situation. You are right, though, such behavior could indicate (or not) a deeper problem.

Yes! I certainly questioned, directly and without accusation, those that used to view my profile frequently/repeatedly.

In general, yes, though I don't see any evidence of that mis-perception in this thread. Personally, I find the potential for online stalking more insidious than in-person stalking. With in-person stalking, you can catch them in the act and get a restraining order.

Geeeeze I am a stalker , I guess . I look at everyones profile and some of them I look at often .
For several reasons :
1. To see if they've made changes to the profile .
2. To see if they have new pics .
3. To see if they are online .
4. They changed there main pic and I see it in the forum but want to see the detail .
5. Just because I wanna .

I look at random profiles . Some I just enjoy reading and I read them repeatedly .
I promise i'm not gonna knock on your door and i'm not getting off on your profile . I am just a curious person by nature .

Yokoke I don't think i've looked at your profile . Now I might and since i'm a chick you won't even be able to see . I'll make sure to look obsessivly . ahaha

I would take this as flattery not as a threat . If your not being harassed via messages , im's or the forum by this person why is it even a problem ? If it worries your mind so much just don't take them off the viewed me list and you will never even know the difference .

OKAY TO CLEAR A FEW THINGS UP IF THE ONLY THING THEY ARE DOING IS LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE THAT CANNOT BE CONSIDERED AS STALKING BUT............ YOU DO NEED TO E-MAIL MIKE MOST LIKELY WHAT THAT IS THEY ARE NOT EVEN LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE BUT A GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM. THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THIS IN THE PAST AND I HAD 2-3 THAT SHOWED THEY LOOKED AT MY PROFILE ALL THE TIME BUT FUNNY IT WAS SOMEONE I KNEW AND STARTED WATCHING THEY WERE NOT EVEN ONLINE HALF THE TIME.

So don't jump to conclusions due to it could just be a bug in the system and the poor guy could be getting acussed for something he did not even do. So e-mail Mike, Van, Andrew or Matt and let them check into it please so it will ease your mind.bigsmile
